ok before you chew me out for another rb post here me out. First off i really like ronnie and sammy they are very good backs and i think ronnie can be one of the best in the nfl but here is my worrie, ronnie is a hard nose runner he likes to scrap and claw for extra yards this is something i have noticed since last year. If he continues to take that first hit and stay up and fight for every inch he will get beat up and miss some time, so if ronnie has to miss some time(god forbid)sammy can step in and do good but i dont think we have anything past morris , minor is a good st player but he cant carry the load, I thought kay jay or riggs would step up but they have not shown anything.with all of our d-line depth we should trade for a back just in case we have an injury, i would not mind suggs or t.henry just for insurance.

I expect Saban to pick up someone, or at least bring someone in for a look.

Well, if you basing your opinion that we need another running back on last night's performance, we need a whole new OL too. Carolina is good! As for Ronnie's running style, I sure as heck don't want a back who regularly falls down on contact.

It is painfully obvious though that the bottom of our RB depth chart hasn't done enough to impress Saban, so yes... it's likely we'll bring in a new warm body after cutdowns. Trade for someone ... I don't think so. That would be like some other team trading for one of our WR's that are likely to be cut. The law of averages says there will be someone, somewhere, at your position of need that gets cut and happens to better than the person at the bottom of your depth chart. I don't want to see any more draft picks thrown away on guys like Gordon or Feeley or Manny Wright...

From what I saw, Barry Sanders couldn't be affective running through those excuses for holes our O-line gave our backs.:shakeno:

What the **** are you talking about? Have you seen him run? the past few games its taken 3 or 4 people to bring him down. Its hard to run when your O Line isn't blocking for you.

They mention that last night that saban was looking into a rb when the cuts take effect not sure if saban mention it or was a rumor..

Early in camp I was inclined to agree, ... but

i think we are fine with morris
after reviewing the way Saban used two backs last year I have changed my mind. Saban needs another top level back. If that is Brown I don't know, but he needs two work horses and I don't think Morris or Minor are those guys, and I don't even think Harris makes the team.

I think you missed DOLFANSEAN's point. He's not saying that Ronnie goes down easy. He was saying Ronnie was the opposite of that.

Thank you. Indeed I was responding directly the this statement by the thread starter:

... so yeah, I'm certainly not complaining about Ronnie's running style and most certainly don't want him to change it. Sure, he needs to be smart and learn that there are some times and some ways to reduce the amount of punishment he takes, but Ronnie is young. Until he gains a little more experience he's bound to take (and deliver) a little more punishment than a wise old veteran.

i wonder why we have not brought stephen davis in for a look

After the Sept 2 cuts, I expect Saban and crew to take a hard look around to see if anyone is available.

Wait and see

anybody see what THE PATS have done with there rb's?

they are going back to the bowl this year. that run game of theres
is going to be what ronnie and ricky were supposed to be!

i know i am tired of that damned travis minor. he is a liability in
blocking and when he is in, it is kind of a givaway what we are
going to do.

i would not mind seeing kj getting some time other than with the
7th string units.

don't hold your breath though. saban is still ronnie blind and thinks
he will do it all. we will not sign any rb worth a damn.
