Zach, Channing, and whoever else is much more solid than our secondary....We neeed to draft tye hill/jimmy williams/mike huff(if he falls)....what does everyone else think

99% of us agree with you about the need to draft a DB.
I bet like 70% would say we need to do it in the first round.

Huff is top 10.
Jimmy Williams is overrated.

I'd like to have Ko Simpson.

Cromartie would be perfect. He is used to the weather, fast, and a specimen. I think he could be an all pro under Saban.

I would mess myself if Michael Huff fell to us. Although we would love to get our hands on Tye Hill

huff yes, but the additon of allen, hill, poole coming back, I thing LB because of the switch to a 3-4 is a bigger need (unless arrington signs)

We don't have a real strong safety on our roster, and we haven't had a real punisher in the secondary for a long time. (Sammy Knight really wasn't) Even though it's a bit of a reach I would be really happy with Darnell Bing. He absolutely crushes people coming into his territory and he's a ballhawk... 6-2 227 and everything you want out of a strong safety, I'd love the pick.

who is "whoever else" ? We lost Seau...

we just signed 3 DB's...how many more do we need ?

if we can't sign someone like Arrington, I say draft a LB with the 1st pick...there are some blue chip prospects available this year...

Jimmy Williams will be drafted if available. He can be brought in to compete at the CB position. He can also be tryed at S. Him, Poole, and Daniels can all compete, or shift.

Agree, at the moment anyway, LB is bit more pressing than DB.

Like I've said in other threads, I think we are fine at CB. We could certainly use some help at safety, but I certainly don't think we need to use our first pick on a CB. It seems to me that some of you are only interested in having "names" at every position. The problem you run into when thinking like that is that you usually end up ignoring the long term. Our defense is going to heavily rely on our LBs for years to come, and who do we really have? Zach has a few years left, but then what? What if Crowder were to have knee problems? Then what? We need another LB . . . not just for this season . . . but for the next six seasons.

As for CB, we're young there already, and I think we have plenty of talent. The Steelers just won the Super Bowl with Taylor and Townsend . . . not necessarily dominant shutdown corners. The year before, the Pats won with two guys I can't even name.

We are fine at CB. We need another LB. We need a talented safety. And we still need to get younger on the line.

You forgot Allen. If we draft Williams, then we would probably end up with Allen, Williams, Daniels, and Poole as our top four CBs. I just think it is a waste to have Daniels and Poole not starting. One of them should be able to lockdown the open position across from Allen.

Shifting people to S sounds great, but it doesn't always work smoothly. I would much rather pick up a guy like Bing (mentioned earlier in the thread) who already knows the position.

I would love to get either Tye Hill or Antonio Cromartie but our CB roster is actually pretty good as it is. Rivals anything New England has had in the last couple years and is as good if not better than the Steelers current roster.

You can never have enough DBs and last time I checked, we don't know what we really have in the secondary in terms of on field performance.

The biggest need I see right now is at linebacker and then safety. If Arrington signs, then I could see them going after a safety or offensive lineman in the 1st round. If not, I think a linebacker might be the pick.
