I'll say it again. We need to stop lining up in the Spread Option and/or in the Shotgun 96% of the time on offense.

We need to line more in the Single Back, I Formation and Power I.

We rely too much on short passes and trick plays. A double pitch to a WR behind the LOS is not a real running play. I would not have a minus 2-pass play in my playbook. The only time I will call for a 2-4 yard pass is if the defense is 15 yards back. The exception being quick slants.

One of my biggest and favorite plays in the Play Action Pass. Some teams and QBs do it very well while others barely do it at all. A couple of years ago Tom Brady threw for first downs on 88% percent of his play-action passes.

One big reason is that he does all of it right. He has excellent accuracy but what makes it work so often and so well Is his footwork, ball fakes, quick release and years of working on his muscle memory. He has a great miss to Gronk that was underthrown and was tipped by Kiko Alonso

More later, past bedtime.

I love that style of game but I don’t think our roster is built for it. We should have kept Dan Campbell if that’s where we wanted to go with it. But times are a changing.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind carrying a FB over a fourth QB though.

You're not going to get that kind of football team unless/until Jim Harbaugh is brought in.

A FB would do wonders for the RBs with the current state of the o-line

Does Adam Gase have something against Drake? He got 3, let me say that again, he got 3 carries in that game. I said before that Gase should give up the play calling. Not only is the running game suffering, but instead of running basic pass patterns, he is trying to use these complicated routes. It is my belief that he runs an offense that he wants his players to succeed in, rather than a system that will utilize their best qualities. It is not just this game that beckons that statement, but the Raiders game it was pretty apparent and contests previous to that you had to shake your head at some of the things he did.

The only hope of playing that kind of football with the current roster is to move Larsen to centre and let Asiata take his lumps at LG. Have Gore and Drake in the backfield on a regular basis and definitely factor in more playaction off short distance downs. And why they haven't moved the pocket or called more rollouts is beyond me considering the QB is elite throwing on the move.

Play action would work great if Miami also had a strong running game. But, like others have said, they don't have the roster for that. IMO, they should! I blame Philbin and Gase for having such a weak roster that can't play tough, smash-mouth football.

because he got 3 yards on those 3 carries (3 yards the week before on 5 carries) and we were down 24 at halftime. Pretty easy to eliminate him from the game plan at that point.

Gase never seems to stick to the hot hand unless his name is Landry. 3 yards and a cloud of dust must be his mantra. Just look at how many hundred-yard games wide receivers have had for us as opposed to other teams.
To not try to run Drake is a travesty ,make the other team stop him before you give up on him for god sakes. Board game plan as usual and frankly I'll never understand it I don't care what the record is, well, maybe if we go deep in the playoffs but if that happens I'll gladly eat my hat.

I tend to think right now our O is built for a QB we don't have.

I mean its like our FO hates guards, centers, and balanced gameplans. I agree with some of the posters saying Gase is so caught up with the gadget plays trying to make up for the weaknesses that it appears he's completely ignored a basic offensive game plan.

So you can forget about adjustments until he actually comes up with realistic back up gameplans. He's living in a fantasy world rn. Can't have that....
