I know, I know, this is an old thought, but it is worthy or restating. Today Just made me think about it again and again...Had Ricky Williams not retired last year, we would have won 8-10 games, and maybe Wayne Huiz would have given Wanny one more year. No Saban, No Ronnie Brown, no free agent frenzy, Thanks Ricky for the accidental help!

I hate this argument. NO we shouldnt thank him for quitting on everyone. What he did was unexcusable no matter what results came from it positive or negative. I have forgiven him but this argument is rediculous.

This has been posted ad nauseam and it is totally wrong in every way. The whole idea of thanking Ricky for bugging out last year is so misguided it's almost insane. Last year was Superbowl or bust, the o-line stunk, our defense got seriously banged up, Fiedler sucked, AJ sucked, etc etc. Please stop these thank Ricky threads immediately. Thank you.

your right...but no one really knows.

if what you say is so true then why are sports writers even adding in their articles that we could have gone 8-8 or 9-7 and still retained wanny if ricky stayed....

know-it-all

Sports writers can predict what they want and be wrong just as often. Didn't you watch any games last year?? Do you understand football?? Did you watch Ricky in 2003?? It's my opinion that this team was hanging on to success by a thread and as soon as that thread unraveled, Wanny was on the short bus out of here. Evil-doer

Even if you believe Ricky's absence was the catylist in that chain of events, why do you want to thank him? Ricky's actions displayed a total disregard for the welfare of his team and teammates. Just because something good may have come out of the situation (along with a lot of bad...remember 4-12?) doesnt mean any gratitude is owed.

Its like throwing a thank you party for the guy that nearly beat you to death because you met a pretty nurse at the hospital

I don't think we should be THANKING him for quitting. But it did turn out well for us. At least, it seems to have. We got a high draft pick - yet an unproven one. We got the most sought after coach out there - yet an unproven one. We have made what looks like some good moves - on paper. It'a all up in the air right now. But, even though I am glad RW is back, thanking him for quitting is not something I would ever be prepared to do. Although, it is nice to know we don't have to endure another season with Wanny - and Williams had a hand in that.

That is highly unlikely...I doubt that we would have done much better, even with RW...at the rate we lost RBs last season, he'd probably have gone down too...besides, although a great RB makes a good line a great line (see Baltimore, Pitts, or the old Dallas lines) a poor line is a poor line and even a great RB can't do too much without some blocking. That was a much larger reason for our demise last year than most people think ( and the chaos that was the offensive coaching staff). Give Mr. H some more credit..he is not a multimillionaire because he's dumb...he may have a tendency to hang on to his staff a little too long, but he's definitely not dumb and Wanny would have been gone, with or without RW...
