Because he never had a good RB.

Look at Peyton Manning:

Peyton's least productive season was 2001, where he went for 26 TDs and 23 INTs. Coincidentally (or not), that was also the year Edgerrin James tore his ACL and wasn't able to play.

His next least productive season? 2002, the year after Edge came back from his injury and was less productive. Edge had career lows (discounting the season he missed to injury) in attempts and ypc, Peyton Manning also had his least productive season (27 TDs 19 INTs) outside of the season that Edge missed that year.

Peyton's other years when Edge was healthy? 33/15, 29/10, and 49/10.

In Peyton's 7 year career, his 3 worst seasons came when Edge either wasn't playing or was not healthy. His 4 best seasons came when Edge was healthy.

Now can you imagine Marino's stats with an EDGE type RB??

... or you could say imagine Manning's #s in the offense that Marino had. I think they would be better.

Dan's #s could be worse with a running game because of the # of throws.

I think the worst problem was no D

Miami really needed Arnsbarger to stay instead of going to LSU.

If he never left, Dan and the Dolphins would have cleaned up the NFL in the 80s and 90s. Dan would have two hands full of rings.

Arnsbarger was never replaced with anyone that could come close to producing a good D.

Are you saying the Marino's offense was better than Peyton's today? I disagree.
Without a running game, Peyton struggles!
I think his stats show that.
So if he was in Marino's offense, Manning's #s would compare to him in his current offense without Edge.

Would Dan have made all those records if he had to share his snaps w/ a rb?

i see your point... i think you're right.

i guess we'll never know... and good running game makes a QB better, so I guess that an Edge, or Ricky type back would have done wonders for Dan.

Didn't Peyton just surpass one of Dan's records? With Edge?

and thts another good point...

rite i'm gna shut up and let you guys sort this one out... :D

not all of it. Peyton also runs a no huddle offense that shortens the amount of time per drive which in turn gives him a lot more snaps than Dan.

Huh??

Ok, I'll ask ya then since you put yourself out there.

How many more snaps exactly?

Let me explain it better....
When you run the no-huddle the O stays on the field lesser than an O that doesn't but saves time. They either score ,punt or turnover in half the time. Whether the D stops or get's scored on the O saves time by going to huddle.

JUst like Kelly and the bills , the D was on the field more than the O was because of the no-huddle. I'm almost sure that Dan and Peyton have almost the same amount of passing attempts but the colts have more running attempts than Dan's unit because the Colts O saves time running the no-huddle.Clear yet?

Yeah, but with a running threat, wouldn't that give Dan more opportunity for bigger plays?

You could just try looking it up.......

1984 Dolphins - 574 passing attempts, 484 rushes
2004 Colts - 527 passing attempts, 427 rushes

The Colts ran fewer plays than the Fins.

it would but it would cut down the amount of time that allowed him to make those records.

Ex. his 5 td's in 1 game would've been cut down to maybe 3 pass td's and 2 run td's. Another thing, when he makes an incompletion the clock stops. When a rb is tackled the clock keeps going unless it was ran out of bounds. How much time would Dan have lost when the clocks keeps running?

I think the fins could've won at least a sb but some of his personal records would've been affected because of it.
