Ricky in particular was tearing it up... I think we tried to catch the Saints off guard with the passing... maybe it woulda worked if Ginn hauled in that 20 yarder instead of volleying it to Sharper for six... even after that not sure why we abandoned the run so quickly... major coaching mistake i think

Agreed. Ricky only had 9 carries and Ronnie only had 16. most of Ronnies were on the wildcat which was held in check in the 2nd half.

Give the ball to the hot hand. I dont think we ran a toss in the 2nd half. If we are up 24-10, I want ricky and ronnie to touch it atleast 30 times combined in the 2nd half.

We need to implement screens to our running backs as a staple of our offense. We have great pass catching RB's which are completely under utilized in the passing game. Ricky and Ronnie are great catchers and open field runners. The WR screen to Bess is nice but I think we need to implement Ginn in them as well. Hate on him b/c of quickness but the man can break ppl and run, give him that shot. Every other team in the NFL does this but we dont understand how to. I dont get it.

there was some bad play calling in the second half i am not a big fan of henning's play calling when we are up by so much it was like his 2 min drill against the colts witch what really bad

Henning is like Jeckell and Hyde at times. He shows flashes of great playcalling, and then downright stupid playcalling

You are absolutely right and Sparano even addressed this to the media... our OC is on the hotseat right now.

Henning is absolutely brilliant sometimes and then he leaves me saying WHAT THE HELL:????? other times.

He put us in position to win the game plenty of times, guys. Think of all those dropped passes. You can't fault the OC; he can't catch the balls himself. Think back to that Wildcat pass that Fasano dropped. The Saints had made adjustments to force us to throw; the throws were there; and our guys just dropped 'em.

You can argue that they abandoned the run too quickly and you'd probably be right but I was very disappointed that we couldn't get any kind of running game going in the 2nd half.

The fear going into this game was we'd get behind early but instead we got exactly what we wanted which was a good lead. I expected us to be able to overpower them and ram it down their throats with our big expensive linemen, two big tight ends and the big backs but it never happened

First play from scrimmage that half - Ricky has nowhere to go and gets stopped for a loss. Next 5 offensive plays were passes but we get the ball back after Nate Jones' pick. OK, still lead by 7 now we can get rolling. Ronnie gets 6 on 1st down. Then Henning dials up the wildcat but Ronnie can only get 3 yds in 2 plays and we're punting. Next drive starts with two runs (1 from the wildcat) for a net 0yds and it's 3rd and 10.

Those six running plays had a lot of blown assignments and it wasn't that surprising Henning went away from the run although he overdid it. Our interior lineman struggled to block their linebackers - they just weren't quick enough. Grove in particular is great when he goes up against a NT one-on-one but he otherwise he can look a bit slow

Bottom line - our big blockers couldn't seal the deal

We got away from what we do best, and still in a winning position. It was awful play calling which was rightfully addressed by Sparano. But why wasn't Sparano stressing that message in the 1st place? Both are accountable for it IMO.

I think the Defensive play calling is where the blame should mostly fall on. In the first half we were aggressive and blitzing from all angles which kept Brees from getting comfortable and he was being rushed and making bad throws. Then we got up 24-3 and the Defense went into sit back mode. We should have kept our foot on their throats the entire game but the defensive game plan turned soft once we got up big and this allowed Brees to regain his composure and pick us apart the entire second half.

You have to give the Saints credit... They COMMITTED to stopping the run in the 2nd half.

Brees got his legs under him when they got their run game going... And it became a shootout...

Hard to blame the playcalling when lack of execution was the main culprit... The plays were there but we dropped, fumbled and cut off routes all the way to the loss.

To much faith was put into Teddy this sunday. Chad Henne made great passes and put the ball in his hands and Ginn just could not capitalize. I want to see the ball go to Hartline and our backs some more.

Ginn quite obviously believes that his job is over as soon as he gets open... Doesn't have to worry about catching it.

We didn't abandon the run the saints just stopped our rushing offense in the second half which is real scary because other teams will copycat them. They made defensive adjustment at the half that just killed our runinng attack. The issue is that we have become so dependent on the wild cat and have neglected practicing a true nfl conventional offense. We are still building this offense and expanding the play book and boy do we need a wide reciever badly.

9 in the box will do that to the run game. Corner blitzing the WildCat as well.
