We should go after Julian Peterson

The Niners just allowed him to become an UFA. This guy is solid and versatile, perfect for our defence and the schemes Saban will put into place for us. Imagine opposing offences having to deal with both him and Jason Taylor? Peterson is in his prime at 27. Brees would be nice, but if we could manage Julian also that would be sweet. Any idea on his price tag? I'm sure he'd love to play in Miami.

Two problems...

One is that he had a sub-par season last year after coming off a serious injury.

Secondly, he wants alot of money.

Other then that, it's a fine fit. We'll see how that plays out, I suspose.

I think we should either pick up Peterson or target Greenway/Carpenter in the draft.

Peterson and Brees both have similarities: pro-bowl caliber players, still young, wanting a good chunk of change, providing good leadership, and coming off serious injuries. Of course Peterson played last year but his play was not as good as before the injury. When healthy, these two players would be an instant upgrade to our team. Im sure Saban and comp. know these things so Im hoping they can land both of them here in Miami.

im thinking ahead of here ofcourse if we can get brees as our qb forget peterson to much $ we can maybe get greenway / carpeneter at 16..much more younger and cheaper...

One thing that I think might factor in is his size. I think the 49ers also didnt want Peterson because of his price tag/injury and possibly size. He is a small linebacker and we know Nick likes his big linebackers.

Peterson can be a huge impact player but I think in the end we are going to spend our free agent money elsewhere.
