So in 1994, the New England Patriots climbed out of obsucurity thanks to a new philosophy brought to the team by Bill Parcells. Hoping to at least get close to .500, the team exceeded expectations and went 10-6, before losing to the Browns in the first round of the playoffs.
In 1995, they were expected to build off of their success. However, a number of factors like injuries, the tougher schedule, and some overall bad luck caused the team to stumble out of the gate. They made their season respectable and pushed for a playoff spot around Thanksgiving, but they once again stumbled in December and landed at 6-10, 4 wins less than the previous season.
While on paper, it appeared that the team had regressed, this was not the case. They were in a building process, and had to take some lumps along the way.
The following year, they won the division and went to the Super Bowl.

So to recap, the Patriots got Bill Parcells and exceeded expectations. The following year, they won 4 fewer games than the previous year. The year after that, they were AFC Champions.

Just something to think about.

Crawl, Walk then Run..

We will stumble here and there...

Ok, so because it happened to the Pats that way, it's going to happen to us the same way, is that what we are supposed to believe? Ok i'w with you, put in the books, Fins AFC champs next season.

NO! Every single step at the same time!

If you want instant gratification.. by a hooker. BUILDING a team takes time. It's not an over night success. We're merely 2 seasons removed from a 1-15 season. If you want a team that annually competes for the playoffs and are seriously mentioned in the SB chase year in and year out.. then you build it from the ground up, and that takes time.

Dude, I'm sorry my optimism offended you.
No, I was not suggesting that we should be Super Bowl contenders going into next season. All I'm saying is that there are many people who are complaining that we regressed from last season because of our record. I don't believe we did, and I'm giving an example of where a team improved despite losing 4 more games than the previous year (something it looks like we will do.)

I am fine with rebuilding if we actually improve the roster every year. The past offseason seems to be more misses than hits for Ireland and Parcells in the player acquisition department.

I just think sooner or later the Pats were bound to start winning after sucking for 40 years.....it's just like the Pittsburgh Steelers who never won a playoff game from 1933 until their first playoff win in the 1972 Immaculate Reception Game.

I guess we can look forward to winning the super bowl
since it's been 19 years since Parcells won his last one
