We should trade down

To get the 2nd round pick back.We can get 2 pretty good players in the 2nd round.

Carpenter/Cromartie or a DT Gabe Watson/Rod Wright.

In the 3rd a safety

In the 4th another hybrid speedy LB(we need a few for the 3-4 D) or Devin Hester

In the 7th a wr and the 2 BPA.
 
Didn't we give up our third this year for Manny Wright in the Supplemental Draft?
 
we should only trade down if we can still get someone who can contribute right away. No projects in the first day please. If there is not a good liklikood that we can get osmeone in the second who can play right away use the first on need.

At this point, Manny Lawson is projected to be a 2nd round pick. Ive never really understood why everyone on this site wants us to pick him with #16. We need to trade down and make a move for Manny or Cromartie in the 2nd.
 
Maybe we can get Denver to trade up. They have plenty of ammo, plus they can only afford to sign 1 first round pick this year.
 
I think the possibility of trading down has gone way up. Of course, if Huff or Greenway somehow make it to #16 I doubt Saban passes them up. We do need more picks. Maybe Ricky Williams can still net a high pick if his situation is cleared up.
 
We need to trade down if there is a decent offer. However, if a player is available who is worth more than the offers coming in, we need to make the pick.

I think Lawson will go in the 1st IMHO.

I'm not a betting man, but after watching Ware and Merriman sail up the draft charts last year I fully expect Lawson to do the same. I seriously doubt he makes it to the second round and wouldn't be overly surprised if he went a few picks before #16.
