I guess Saban wants people to start talking about the punter instead of Ricky now.

Yup.

Another LSU player! :D

Familiarity breeds contempt.

He played for the Seahawks last year and by his stats, he sucks. Was he any good good at LSU?

At LSU, he was the second best punter in the nation behind Tennessee's Dustin Colquitt.

so we have depth at OL,RB,LB,WR,DL and now punter. WOW!

Maybe Saban wanted to bring him in to see if he will perform like he did in college. Could this mean that Turk isn't safe?

Maybe just rookie jitters??? I don't know.
Might be interesting to hear a report from someone. Is he attending training camp today?

6' 2" 220 lbs, 25 yrs old
Drafted by Seattle in the 7th round of the 2004 draft

2004-Played in 6 games for Seattle with 26 punts for 988 yards for a 38.00 avg
long of 51, 6 inside the 20 and 2 touchbacks

2004 TSN breakdown...

Strengths: Gets rid of the ball quickly on a two step release. Has a strong leg when he strikes the ball cleanly. Had a career-best 86 yd punt against Kentucky in 2002 that went more than 70 yards in the air. Also can drop the ball inside an opponent's 10-yd line by turning his punts over and making them take a sharpe bounce toward the sideline.

Weaknesses: Lacks consistency; hang time and directional skills suffer as a result.

Bottom Line: Jones is leftfooted and was the Tigers top punter since 2000. He averaged 42.4 yards per attempt as a senior and 42.1 yards for his career. He improved each season and has great leg strength. However, his inconsistency, especially in hang time and directional skills in the middle of the field, will cost him on draft day.
