3rd and 22 drop everyone and let a rookie who's throwing at 50% clip find his open man. I don't know how Davis is on the field when it's a jump ball type situation and I have less of an idea how you get beat deep when it's 3rd and 22.
Too many times we do not pressure the QB on 3rd and long's and we let the QB sit back and pick us apart, you'd think getting burnt on this over and over we'd stop doing it.
PP - here's a simple lesson for you......
When your LB's struggle covering RB's out of the backfield and your playing a team that has a L.Washington type player in the backfield do the following.....
Blitz your LB'er forcing the RB to pick him up and not get a chance to release. This doesn't allow for us to get beat by the runningback we can't cover, this also gives the QB a false sense of pressure and will result sometimes in him getting rid of the ball earlier then he wants to.
Now understand the LB's not trying get to the QB, just force the RB to pick him up and do not let him release, let alone set up a screen. The LB's job is to crush the RB on this blitz and keep him out of the play.
Your welcome
P.S. One other thing, pressuring the QB in different blitzes helps your safeties not look so bad in deep coverage too! Leaving Akin and Crowder in no man's land does zip for us, send the heat!!!!!!!!
