i was reviewing our roster a couple minutes ago and i am surprised that we have 5 tight ends but none of them are pro bowl material but when training camp comes we should have some good compitiion even though none of our tight ends are pro bowl material yet.
meet the tight ends
Aaron Halterman
Jason Rader
Justin Peelle
David Martin
Tim Massaquoi

meet the wide receivers

PK Sam Az Zahir Hakim
Kerry Reed Derek Hagan
David Sutton Michael Malone
Ted Ginn jr. Chris Chambers
Kelly Campbell Marty Booker

I realize that we wont keep all these guys but is there a way we can package a trade with some of these guys for a olineman or two or a cornerback or something ?

I think our wr corp looks good but i am a little unimpressed with these guys at tight end but i will root for them whether they are prow bowl or not.
i started this thread with the purpose of discussing which players have the best chances to make the team and to see if any of guys are concerned with the te and wr position.
I am pulling for David Sutton Kelly Campbell . I never heard of Kerry Reed .
so ist safe to say we keep 3 tightends and 5 wrs ?:cooldude:

I really don't think we have enough competition at TE. Martin is good but everyone knows about his injury troubles. So we are one play away from starting Justin Peele, who is pretty good, but not the kind of TE that can stretch the field.

I agree with you endorPHINS72. And I have see a lot of talk about converting David Sutton into a TE. My question is "why convert?" He can clearly play WR, but he is big and strong enough to line up as tight end. My point is that with enough training/coaching, he could be versatile and line up as either. He could be the first real crossover player that could line up as tight end and function as tight end, or line up at tight end and function as Wide Receiver. He really could stretch the field.

I like P.K. Sam. I am a very biased ACC fan though. He was a playmaker at FSU when one of their QB's actually performed his job right at his time there. I like the Malone kid as well because he just seemed like someone you want to pull for. Since we can't keep everyone though, may the best WR win and not be given the job because of money nor because of the name on the jersey.

Yeah, I'll second that. Losing McMichael wasn't a good thing. I just hope that maybe a combination of two guys can fill his shoes.

We shouldn't have any problems with depth at the WR position. TE I don't know about. They don't look that good on paper.

At tight end i think Martin will satrt definatly but peele will be the second tight end.Reciever wise im pullin for malone and campell.

Wr looks great , Te is a mess.
I wish we had some competition but we basically have a a couple of backups and never will be's fighting it out.

Have to agree with you on that. I heard the Packers aren't happy with Bubba Franks and Martin didn't even cross their mind as a replacement. I hope someone breaks out for a monster year for us but I don't see it happening. I look for alot of spreading the feild with talented WR's and leaving Schlesinger in to block. I heard in Cams O the FB has those duties anyway and the TE is used more for receiving.

Very true on the not happy with Franks so that makes me wonder big time why they did not retain Martin if he was so good. Martin also has a pretty dreadful Avg which makes me think that some overrate his mighty 4.6 speed lol, but there are other reasons for that possibly.

Where did you hear that Martin didn't even cross their minds as a replacement?
Green Bay was hoping to re-sign Martin, but he opted to sign with the Dolphins. With Randy McMichael having been released, Martin has a realistic shot at starting in Miami.
