Here is a list of reasons we will make the playoffs this year.
1. Daunte Culpepper: Regardless of how many people complain that he is not 100%, he definitely is close enough that it wouldn't matter. No, I don't see him sprinting down the field like he used to, but I do see him throwing the ball with the same accuracy that he has his whole career. He is at home in Miami, and he is happy. He has a great supporting cast with a pro-bowl reciever who had the pro bowl year with Gus Frerrotte. Gus had a 52% completion rate compared to Daunte's over 70%. Daunte has all the things we could ever dream of in a quarterback. He is big, strong, smart, and accurate. Last year in SIX and a half games he was sacked a total of 31 times. At that rate over a 16 game period, Daunte would have been sacked a total of around 80 times. That is more than David Carr has ever been sacked in his career (76). In 6.5 games, he had been sacked more than Peyton Manning, Jake Delhomme, Gus Frerrotte, and Joey Harrington (not to mention many others.) As long as our line does a decent job blocking, we will be just fine.
2. Our schedule is the most favorable I have seen it in recent time. We play three good defenses all year. The Bears have no offense, the steelers are without big ben and probably ward, and the Jags just don't have the offensive power to compete with real teams as they showed in the playoffs last year. We play alot of crappy teams. The Texans, the Titans, Jets, Bills, Lions, Packers are all terrible. THat is 11 total games right there. The other 5 are the Vikings who aren't good enough to compete with us, the Colts will be resting their starters the last week, we should split the patriots games, considering that their secondary and recieving corps is depleted. The Chiefs game should be tough, but we are a better team up on the D-line with Big daddy, and our offense isn't as dominant in the running game, but we have a monster passing game.
3. Nick Saban has never had a losing season as a head coach, and I don't see it happening this year. He is IMO a top 5 coach in the league if not the best because he is demanding, but he is a natural born leader. He has also surrounded himself with coaches that have alot of experience and have been successful as coordinators.
4. Chris Chambers is a monster and he will eat Db's souls.
There is no reason to be humble and question whether we will make the playoffs. We will make the playoffs, there is no doubt about it. As for the super bowl, we will have to get through Indy, Denver, and Cincinatti. There is no reason we can't do that. We have a great team, we need to have the fan swagger.
