Weakest Draft Class In The NFL?

hagan and esp allen will see more time as the year goes on. We caught a bad break with Toldeo's injury.

Its only four weeks in but last year I think the Fins had one of the better drafts in the NFL.

I'm not worried in the least about this draft class. Reggie Wayne had 1 catch for 20 yards in his first 4 games (27 receptions for 345 yards his rookie year). Wayne was thought to be NFL ready, but started out the season behind the likes of Jerome Pathon and Terrence Wilkins; the only legit WR he had in front of him was Harrison. Hagan has Chambers/Booker/Welker in front of him. I'll wait till the end of the season before I even start to evaluate this draft class........

4 games. This kind of analysis is useless.

Exactly.........

I think Chad Jackson is going to be an amazing WR someday........but he not have more than 400 yards receiving this year. It will be a good 3 years until we know how this draft class turned out.

After 4 games, it's pretty useless to rate anybody's picks.

Also, these type of publications rarely look at anything beyond the surface. Example: how many of them actually acknowledge that Daunte was our second round pick?? Who should we sit in favor of Derek Hagan?? Should it be Pro Bowler Chris Chambers?? Former Pro Bowler Marty Booker?? Unofficial team MVP Wes Welker?? That said, when any of the starters go out, it's Hagan who's stepped in.

I could go on and on about our draft. But what's the point??

Yes. I think the Patriots top two picks are a great example here.

They've got what looks like a budding superstar in RB Lawrence Maroney. And they've got another potential star in Chad Jackson. To the casual fan, Maroney appears to be way ahead of Jackson. But most people can agree that WR is one of the toughest positions to transition to, while RB is among the easiest.

I really like Maroney. Shame I'm gonna have to hate him the next decade or so. :jk:

It's only diapointing because everyone keeps comparing it to last years draft class. Jason Allen came into camp late which is why he's not starting, we had no 2nd round pick, Hagan will hopefully get more time, Toledo is hurt and Manny is just ehhh. Things will come together just give it time....

This is the entire draft for Saban since he has been here in 2005: Includes guys like Joe Berger who were drafted by another team and signed during Saban's watch:

(2nd overall) 1- Ronnie Brown (RB) 6-0 232 Auburn
(16th overall) 1- Jason Allen (S) 6-1 212 Tennessee
(46th overall) 2- Matt Roth (DE) 6-4 285 Iowa
(70th overall) 3- Channing Crowder (LB) 6-2 248 Florida
(82nd overall) 3- Derek Hagan (WR) 6-2 203 Arizona State
(104th overall) 4- Travis Daniels (CB) 6-1 193 LSU
(114th overall) 4- Joe Toledo (G) 6-5 332 Washington
(162nd overall) 5- Anthony Alabi (T) 6-5 315 TCU
(supp draft) 5- Manuel Wright (DT) 6-6 340 USC
(207th overall) 7- Joe Berger (G/C) 6-5 305 Michigan Tech
(212th overall) 7- Fred Evans (DT) 6-4 305 Texas State
(216th overall) 7- Kevin Vickerson (DT) 6-5 310 Michigan State
(226th overall) 7- Rod Wright (DT) 6-5 306 Texas
(233rd overall) 7- Devin Aromashodu (WR) 6-2 203 Auburn

* Aromashodu is the only person cut out of 14 players drafted in 2005 & 2006.
** 5 of the 14 draft picks are SEC players
*** We had no 6th round pick in either the 2005 or the 2006 draft

And when you add CPep whom he got for 2nd trade this season, not bad at all!

"Miami could have the least-productive rookie class in the NFL. Jason Allen, a first-round pick, hasn't cracked a weak secondary. Barely any of the other Dolphins rookies have played. Derek Hagan is the team's fourth receiver."

Yeah I agree with that. Its hard to think of any team who's had a worse draft. The entire draft will hinge on Allen, Toledo and maybe one of the late guys Rodrique Wright or Fred Evans. Derek Hagan is a dime a dozen possession receiver in this league who has no seperation or escapability. A good pickup if you used your 7th rounder on him, a horrible pick for a 3rd. You can get 20 receivers like this every offseason for 500,000 per.

If none of these players are anything but backups we get an F
If one player pans out its a D
I think we'll get about a C because I think Toldeo will be decent and Allen will be good and I think Rodrique Wright will eventually become decent

Still, we cant afford another poor draft like this. If Saban wants to be in the SuperBowl then you better draft like 2005 and not 2006
