Weaver's plan at CB

Yeah not too worried. Defense was still good with two awful safeties, a career down year Ramsey and cb 2 remains the same since fuller missed half the season.

The difference is the front 7 should be much improved leading to more and faster pressure which will only help the secondary, something we didn’t really have last year.

If we sign someone like Asante, great if not would love to see what we have in cam smith and a few other young guys. Just don’t really want to sign an older guy like rasul, build or let the younger guys grow for the future which will help the team much more than a stop gap vet.

For some reason, I'm less concerned about safety than corner. Maybe it's because Holland and Poyer underperformed last year. There's also enough proven talent there, although Grier is taking a chance on Melifonwu staying healthy.

I'm also interested to see what Trader and/or Saunders might add.

I don't know if anyone in the secondary performed well last year. we had better just start playing a lot of cover 2.

Kohou was probably the star of the secondary. Ramsey was actually pretty good, although not as consistently good as in the past.

But, I agree, the secondary was a disappointment. At the very least, Miami has young and hungry players competing. That could be a good thing.

Very hard to get warm and fuzzy over any of the secondary, it's got disaster written all of over it if Kohou is the best player out there
I can say one thing with certainly. Teams are coming out passing against Miami until, or if, this secondary proves itself. Early season may be a bit rough.

If there was ever a guy I think could pull it off, it's Anthony Weaver. If he succeeds it's very possible he becomes the Leading Candidate for a HC gig, in 2026.

if we are smart, we should fire McDaniel as soon as we see more of the same in 2025 and promote Weaver and offer him our HC job during the season.

There's a few veterans available and if we get the pass rush going we should be fine
This. a strong pass rush is sometimes the best pass defense. I remember in Jaytay's DPOY season, the secondary looked really rough... until he went on his tear and all of a sudden Renaldo Hill and co looked plenty competent.
That obviously hinges on Phillips and/or Chubb being major contributors (still TBD). If they are we won't care who is at CB.
