Since tonight's game won't really change much as far as the playoff picture goes (Colts would still be 4 seed win or lose), I figured I'd post this early...

If the season ended today:

AFC
------
1 Seed: Patriots
2 Seed: Broncos
3 Seed: Bengals
4 Seed: Colts
5 Seed: Steelers
6 Seed: Chiefs

In the Hunt:
7 Seed: Browns
8 Seed: Bills
9 Seed: Dolphins
10 Seed: Chargers

Week 9 was good to the Dolphins. Their blowout victory over the Chargers knocks SD behind the Dolphins in the playoff race. The Ravens' loss also knocked them out of the top 10 AFC teams in the hunt, which is great because we still face them coming up. The loss to the Chiefs earlier in the season still looms large, but the Dolphins have the opportunity to make up for it by beating the Broncos which would likely put the Chiefs in the driver seat for the AFC West and give the Dolphins the edge in the wild card race over the Broncos.

The Dolphins situation:
  • Dolphins will lose a head to head tiebreaker to the Chiefs and Bills (at this point)
  • Dolphins yet to play games vs 4 potential AFC playoff teams: Ravens, Bills, Patriots, Broncos
  • Dolphins are only a game behind every team except for the Patriots, which we have already defeated once this season.

Is it me or is everyone 5-3. Its a nice record at this point but everyone is 5-3 even the Browns. Crazy

And we are only 1.5 behind new england. They haven't had a bye yet

I used to think we had no shot at the Broncos game, but now I'm not so sure. Seeing how the Dolphins can bring consistent pressure with only 4 guys, that is Manning's achilles heel. Couple that with the cold weather in which Manning usually struggles, and in which Tannehill has actually performed quite well in the few times he has played in the elements, and I could see a potential upset there, as crazy as it sounds now.

We have the #3 ranked D, #9 PPG, #4 Rush Yards Per Game, #11 Yards Per Game, #2 in takeaways....yeah, that looks like a playoff team built for late in the season.

It's going to take 11 wins to get into the postseason

maybe not even 11 this year since its so close. look at the pats a few years back, won 11 and still missed the playoffs, the 2008 i believe.

A lot can change in a few weeks in the NFL. Some tough games for all of these teams coming up. I wouldn't be surprised if the "pack" comes back to the rest of the field a little bit....

I expect the Browns to fade as they have beaten bottom if the barrel teams. The Steelers and Chiefs are the problem. KC has the tiebreak and the Steelers have an easier schedule. The toughest games they have are the Bengals twice and the Chiefs at home. The rest are the Jets, Titans, Falcons and Saints.

Cle at Cin, KC at Buf next week, so there's two teams taking an AFC loss for sure.

NE, SD, and Indy are off next week

I worry about our RB depth for a late playoff push. Especially if Millers day to day status extends further. I wish we hadn't lost Moreno. :/

I think the Steelers will end up taking the division. But it is very likely that anther AFC North team will end up with a wildcard spot
