New to the board, Dolphins fan in Bills country been watching the fins since the Marino days... :dolphins:

I've been reading every FA/trade post on this board and the reactions to each signing and lost player on the team.

I have my own views on those moves like we all do but really just want to say this - we should welcome the scrutiny we are receiving.

I feel like Miami has been so invisible recently or given too much of a pass after being crowned off-season champs last year that I really do welcome the negative attention and scrutiny we're getting.

There's no hiding for T-Baum or Ross anymore and these moves they are making are unorthodox to say the least.

Obviously we hope they turn out well, that Maxwell returns to SEA form in a zone fit, Kiko stays healthy, Williams returns to dominance and we prove that our lost FA didn't deserve the big $$$ but regardless be glad for the negative attention.

We are in 100 percent prove it mode from now on, no more coasting and I'm glad for that. These moves are too ballsy to be mediocre, they will either prove to be brilliant or a complete failure bringing the judgement they deserve with it.

It should be sink or swim time.

Just my two cents, feel free to add yours.

Welcome to the MBoard.

I agree with pretty much everything that you typed. The path the Dolphins chose to trade for another teams trash IMO makes it fair game to go after them in a negative way. It's a risk. But for me I'm not sure giving up 5 spots in the top 15 is any more risky than making that trade and receiving TWO potential starts. I don't think there is a right or wrong side of that argument. And I agree although the current front office was NOT in place for the far majority past decisions because of the past 15-years the franchise as a whole deserves to be second guessed.

at this point in my life I have have no more faith or reason to believe things are going to turn around or be better.
these moves will fail. he made us a worse team than last season in a matter of minutes

It's been sink or swim for the last two decades.

Thanks! No more hiding behind the top FA signings - you could argue even under Mike Wallace this happened because most were favorable on the signing. For two years in a row we netted the top FA available.

Pick #13 will be telling, I'm very curious as to who MIA is targeting that they would feel confident trading down. April can't come soon enough.

I'm just waiting to see the whole offseason picture I guess.

yeah I wouldn't say I have a lot of faith right now either, but I'm not going to say these moves were a success or failure yet - they leave room for concern but may turn out after all. I know that sounds indifferent I guess I'm just really waiting to see what we get at #13 and who we miss out on by moving back those 5 spots.

I agree.

I would not characterize the moves as being ballsy though.

They are RISKY moves sure, but the risk is small,

impatient moves, desperate, win NOW type moves, yes DEFINITELY

but not ballsy.

Actually they are low risk,

if you look at the draft as something that cannot be successfully navigated

& if you do not trust your personnel evaluating staff.

If you have a good GM and have any REAL trust in the professionals that you pay to evaluate talent,

then they are idi0tic moves. :d-day:

I honestly don't hate this as much as I did knowing that we didn't give up a 4th round pick, as some of the early reports were saying.

If Kiko can flourish back at DE and Maxwell can get healthy, getting 2 starters for 5 spots isn't terrible.

Now... If VHIII is there at our original spot, I can see the boards in full on meltdown. If he's gone though, I think more people come around. We should still get a top tier CB at #13.

As always... we won't know for 2-3 years... and to be honest, Kiko and Maxwell are much better than our last top 10 pick, so maybe we're saving ourselves from ourselves by trading back a bit and picking up 2 starters.

lol I'm not sure MBoards in general are for posters like you then. That's far too of a patient and mature approach to take when partaking in places like this.

:)

I told my doctor that my antidepressants were not working and I wanted to try something different. He told me to be a fan of a different football team. True story.

I guess I consider it ballsy to move out of a Top 10 pick. I also can't believe all it took was a swapped 4th for Murray and wonder if that's really what we needed to put up to get these two - at least both are young and if they do pan out could be starters for the next 3-5 years.

I'm typically not the optimistic guy, but I like the moves so far. There is minimal risk and they are signing people to reasonable contracts. It's not like in the past. It seems like Miami is learning their lesson so far. It's nice not being the FA winners. The media thinks NY and Jax are winners for overspending. Far from it.

haha I don't have the emotional energy left anymore - I think I lost it after the high of the win against the Texans this year and perpetual downward spiral after.

I'm with you, but I really enjoyed that Pats win. It felt like a Super Bowl win!

haha oh man...yeah this team is not for the faint of heart...or for those who want to be happy apparently. Yet every year, no matter how pissed I am I'm hooked for opening day through at least week 10 when it becomes clear we won't be making the playoffs...lol

Truth, but I did feel like it was because the Patriots didn't take us seriously and clouded the Dan Campbell decision. Still at win against the Pats is a treasure and the fact it cost them the #1 seed and ultimately the superbowl make it pretty awesome.
