Some of you may just pass over this thread like the past "Zach at Safety" threads. But this one is real. Take a look at Marvez latest blog.

Fans still won’t stop asking whether the Dolphins will re-sign cornerback Terrell Buckley. Saban spoke highly of Buckley, who actually was in attendance walking around the team’s Hall of Fame exhibit at Dolphins Stadium. But the reality is that Saban already had unsuccessfully placed a waiver claim on cornerback Joey Thomas, a 2004 third-round draft pick who was waived Wednesday by Green Bay, earlier in the day instead of trying to sign the available Buckley.

Saban also said he believes wide receiver Wes Welker could serve as a “star†cornerback – i.e. a cornerback who covers the slot receiver -- in an emergency situation.

Wow. Is there anything he CANT do????

We should try him at quarterback. No, seriously.

Let me be the first to say, I'd love to actually see it happen (if it didn't cost us the game  )

Imagine if he did stick Welker there, and Welker actually played lights out... like every other postition he's played in. Imagine how his legend would grow!

You know, I don't have many jerseys, but I think I've got to go find me a Welker jersey.

Welker is a stud. But I was surprised about the Joey Thomas statement. Apparently the current wavier claim selection order isn't based on last years records, but on this years? Thats disappointing...

Apparently, there isn't anything he can't do... and I'm with you on trying him at Quarterback...

According to KFFL...

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the New Orleans Saints were awarded CB Joey Thomas (Packers) off waivers from the Green Bay Packers.

Of course it's this year. Why wouldn't it be?

Yeah your right, I passed over this thread a bunch of times before coming into it finally. But if you think about it, its really not a surprise. Welker hasn't disapointed in any position yet. Making the kicks, giving us our first kickoff return for a TD in the reguar season in about a million years, making all the big catches. I dont doubt he could do the CB thing. WELKER!!!!

this would be interesting to see

i wonder if they may try him out next year in camp to see if he has more value as #3 corner vs. #3 WR. doesnt seem likely though

I honestly think that if Troy Brown could play CB, Welker can play it too, maybe even better. How great would it be to see the scenario of Vick dropping back to pass, and being picked off by #83 Wes Welker? lol. It sounds like a can't fail idea really, it's not like he can get beat any worse than Reggie Howard.
