Beating the Houston Texans in week 1 for the first time in team history. Should they accomplish that feat, I'd feel VERY confident in this season.

Not to mention a fast start out of the gate would be most welcome.  Sparano's teams always sputtered out of the gate, and the slow starts contributed to underachieving and deflated teams (except when Pennington was around to motivate).

Beating the texans on the road will be a tough task that team is superbowl ready, if we lose to them dont get discouraged because we still have a fairly easy schedule, the best thing we can do is let garrard start because i think he can have the pennington affect on us, solid veteran qb who can protect the ball and lead his team through an easy schedule.

we better hope the texans d isn't ready for our pace on o...cause otherwise MURDER WAS THE CASE THAT THEY GAVE ME...

Too bad heat wont be much of a plus for us as the Texans have been practicing in more heat than we have. However, the faster pace should have an impact. Cant wait!

Well, if we win, it'll be an exciting start, but if we lose, I wouldn't get discouraged. When/if healthy, the Texans are one of the very, very best teams in the NFL.

We have the element of surprise in our favor, hopefully our Defense can limit they're balanced big play offense, like mentioned above we can't be discouraged if we lose , but I really wanna win this one! First game won't make or break the season.

8 in the box and double Andre Johnson. If we do that, I think we can win. Putting Nolan Carroll on Johnson without safety help was an idiotic move last year and cost us the game!!! We were not prepared to play the first 7 weeks of last year. I don't think that will happen with Philbin. I'm sure we will lose games to superior teams but the losing to inferior teams should be gone. Although the Texans aren't a must-win game, I believe that our season will defined by how we play in that game.

Our season will be defined by how we play week 1 ? Think you are over emphasizing it a little. It is 1/16

I really believe that beating them will set the Dolphins up for a good year. Losing to them for the 56th time in a row will continue to curse the franchise for the entire season.

Technically no but mentally? Beating those ****s for the first time will set a precedent not just for the rest of the year but for Joe Philbin's legacy with the team. What better way to start off the new regime than to do something the last few regimes have never been able to accomplish?

I agree, beating the Texans would set a nice tone for the regular season and would do wonders for this young team's confidence, but it's a road game so it's going to be very tough to go into Reliant and steal a game form them. If we lose, I don't think it's going to be too damaging as far as the rest of the season is concerned. We will have to probably go ahead and win the next two games at home if we want to salvage the season and avoid seeing the fire Philbin chants that will undoubtedly occur if we have another slow start to the season!
