Saban knew that this organization is committed to winning and will be able to tough out a rebuilding process to get to where it needed to be. Add Randy Mueller and the ingredients are there for sound talent decision making and clear direction for the organization. A better situation than KC, Detroit, or Chicago. If you recall back in 2003 after he won a NC with LSU it was rumored that his buddy, the GM in Chicago, wanted Nick to replace Jauron.
Nick wanted nothing to do with the McCaskill's and their cheap ways (That is why the Bears have some good teams now and then but go on streaks of five years or so of mediocrity; the owners won't spend the dough for impact players but they do care about winning to an extent). Saban wanted none of that. Nothing but total committment for a Super Bowl ring!
We are lucky that this organization puts winning first and let it take care of itself. Too many organizations live off PLC suite revenues and guaranteed TV revenue and lose sight of wins and losses or just don't have sound direction (see Lions, Saints, Cards, Texans, and yes the new and worse 49'ers under John York's ownership). Thank your Christmas blessings that the Dolphins are nothing like those organizations.
Also, thank Bill Belichek for coaching in the same division. I know that sounds strange but it is one of the challenges that brought Nick here; the opportunity to compete with his good friend. Almost like sibbling rivalry since the two guys are suppose to be close like brothers off the field. And, the recent success of the Patsies (eventhough we all despise them) raises the level of competition for the entire division and is good for all the teams involved in a roundabout way. But, the next run of Championships belong to us!
GO DOLPHINS!!!!
