So its been Christmas time and we're supposed to be thankful... I think one of the biggest possitive things has been over looked in the dolphins. Its not our cap room, its not our last draft nor our future draft... I think the biggest thing that has happened to our team in recent years, has been acquiring Nick Saban last year. We lucked out getting such a good, young coach a year ahead of the huge coaching controversies to come in this offseason... so many new headcoaching jobs available this coming year, you think Saban would have still come to us? I doubt it... so hey, the dolphins still have some luck behind us haha

I'm not so sure that is true! I believe he picked the Dolphins because there was something that attracted him to this team! I think he could have guessed what coaching position would have been open following this year and waited if he really wanted something else! Granted he couldn't predict all of them but what other team out there do you think would be that much more desireable that Miami?
I know it's not Detroit! LOL

First to mind... KC

That could be a team that might interest him but I personally don't think they are more desirable than Miami, but that could just be my own bias! :D

haha honestly man, if your a coach looking for a job and the best opportunity, why would you pick Miami over KC?

Great ownership and no state income tax.

Saban turned down numerous nfl job offers before. Why is that? It was rumored that he was watching our situation for some time.

"Why would he pick MIA over KC?"
LOL. Y'Know, the same question was asked last year by a jests fan I know but replace KC with the Saints. He claimed they had more talent than the Phins so,

any coach who chooses us with our horrible situation & talent-depleted roster over any other team would be crazy right? Well all I have to say is:
if you don't know, you'll never know.

KC a better organization than Miami?
Whoops, sorry I just threw up in my mouth.

Anyways, Miami is one of the best organizations in football. We have one of the best owners in football who will give Saban his space. Not to mention Saban is an SEC guy and wanted to stay in the south.

He has turned down numerous coaching jobs. The most notable one would be Chicago a couple of years back.

We are DEFINITELY LUCKY to have him. We will be a contender for years to come with Saban. He is so much like Beliechek its not even funny.:dolphins: :dolphins:

I'll agree with the first 2 posts; Yes, indeed Miami is fortunate to have landed and young coach, with a solid background and a promising future. And we are also fortunate that HE chose US over all other offers. It may be his vision that we can be grateful for (I know, never end a sentence in a preposition).

Personally, I am glad Nick Saban is the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
:dolphins:

Saban knew that this organization is committed to winning and will be able to tough out a rebuilding process to get to where it needed to be. Add Randy Mueller and the ingredients are there for sound talent decision making and clear direction for the organization. A better situation than KC, Detroit, or Chicago. If you recall back in 2003 after he won a NC with LSU it was rumored that his buddy, the GM in Chicago, wanted Nick to replace Jauron.

Nick wanted nothing to do with the McCaskill's and their cheap ways (That is why the Bears have some good teams now and then but go on streaks of five years or so of mediocrity; the owners won't spend the dough for impact players but they do care about winning to an extent). Saban wanted none of that. Nothing but total committment for a Super Bowl ring!

We are lucky that this organization puts winning first and let it take care of itself. Too many organizations live off PLC suite revenues and guaranteed TV revenue and lose sight of wins and losses or just don't have sound direction (see Lions, Saints, Cards, Texans, and yes the new and worse 49'ers under John York's ownership). Thank your Christmas blessings that the Dolphins are nothing like those organizations.

Also, thank Bill Belichek for coaching in the same division. I know that sounds strange but it is one of the challenges that brought Nick here; the opportunity to compete with his good friend. Almost like sibbling rivalry since the two guys are suppose to be close like brothers off the field. And, the recent success of the Patsies (eventhough we all despise them) raises the level of competition for the entire division and is good for all the teams involved in a roundabout way. But, the next run of Championships belong to us!

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Wayne Huizenga. Deep pockets. Stays out of the football business and lets his people run the show. Saban wanted complete control and he got it with big money. Not to mention staying in the south. Big connection of the dolphins drafting and the SEC.

I THOUGHT that I had read somewhere before that if he ever did make jump back to the NFL..it would only be with Miami. I could be wrong, just i thought I read that somewhere once before.

The Dolphins job is one of the top 5 NFL head-coaching jobs around. We are a flagship franchise with a deep, storied tradition, a legendary former coach, practically our own wing of the building in Canton, PLUS the climate, no state tax, PLUS the winning organizational history. This job was Saban's from the start, those of us who knew about him knew this was a PERFECT FIT.

He was never going to some low-profile NFL franchise. I can't imagine Saban anywhere else except for maybe the Dallas Cowboys. And he would never tolerate Jerrah.

I concur, concur, concur, with everything said concering why Saban chose to come to Miami and how lucky we are as fans to have not only the ownership we have but the front office and coaching staff that we have.
