I have no problem with having to provide documentation of injuries suffered on the job. Yet I was just pointing out that the NFL has made it very difficult for former players to get injury benefits unless they file a class action lawsuit.I evaluate injury claims for a living and having to provide documentation and records showing correlation of your treatment to your claim is pretty much the most basic component of making a claim.
Every big company does it this way. Hell, even Social Security, Military, and the VA. He's just being pissy...he'll get over it.The NFL has shown time and again that they have little desire to take care of former players. The only way the players who built the league have been able to receive any benefits from the NFL is by taking the league to court to win these benefits.
Being out there running routes with the team doesn't help I'm sure.Hmmmm....... Has Welker suffered any actual life altering disability?
Yeah, doesn't appear disabled to me.Being out there running routes with the team doesn't help I'm sure.
Unfortunately I see it both ways. The NFL has been cheap at times trying to avoid paying injured players, however at the same time there have been hundreds of reported incidents where ex-players have been involved in false injury claims in an attempt to get unwarranted payments. it's one of those argements I would just stay on the side and not say much because I don't know that I trust either side based on history.I have no problem with having to provide documentation of injuries suffered on the job. Yet I was just pointing out that the NFL has made it very difficult for former players to get injury benefits unless they file a class action lawsuit.
Welker obviously needs to provide the documentation being requested in this individual case.
I hear you and agree brother. Experienced this first hand. Semper Fi!Anyone who had to go through the VA claims process (26 years Air Force here) knows this verbiage very well. It looks to be the same criteria. That is why I tell all my military peeps that if you are hurt, go get seen and have it put in your medical records. The other thing is if the rating process is similar, which I am sure it is......they DO NOT care about pain as a determining factor in your disability rating. They only care about limitations it puts on you. It is also square peg round hole as there are only about 4 generic areas they can rate you at, that have a percentage based on their exact verbiage. They will place you in the category that is closest to your diagnosis.
That is why it is important to know how these categories are written and create your claim based on this exact verbiage. It is almost like a resume in that regard. It sounds like Wes is facing the same frustrations that millions of Vets are currently going through. It is very important to have someone who knows what they are doing prepare your medical claims. For my military peeps, the local American Legion and/or VFW usually have an expert who will help you free of charge. Document EVERYTHING!
