Just a much as i hate seeing welker go it started to dawn on me that this is the kind of moves this organization needs to make over the next 5 years to become elite in the AFC we picked Welker up for nothin and look what we get in return for him i know he was good and had a big heart but this is a business and this was a great business move look a his career stats he has 12 times as many fumbles than he does touchdowns in my opinion he got a TON of money but im glad for Welker he deserves the money. :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins:

I hated to see him go, but we did get a 2nd and 7th round pick out of him. Which we can use it on getting more under talent on the team for the years to come.

Yes it was unless the NFLPA finds something wrong with what went down and you lose those picks....If they VOID the trade.

On a side not any other Info on your 6th for Wilkerson.....Is he retiring?

The only pick we would lose if at all would be the seventh because that was the pick that lowered Welkers salary to 18 mil from 38 mil. I dont think it would go that far though. Neither team has responded to im sure the fins and pats lawyers are working together to come up with some sort of story so the NFLPA leaves them alone

I think if the very very little chance happens that they void the deal, it will just act as a rewind and the same will result will occur with the two teams doing what they need to do to be in compliance with the rules. At the very worst, the pats sign him to the offer sheet again, and we lose the 7th rounder, but again that would be such a small chance.

The NFLPA is defending the guy who went where he wanted to go and for a good salary, how much would they actually push it. Both teams got what they wanted and both of them are happy with the results. Unless the pats have a sure fire player that they want at the end of the first round, I definitely see them giving up the later first and getting back into the second round while picking up at least one other pick which will probably be a first day or early second day pick. That's what I would do at least.

Ok but would hurt the Pats even more thatn you all I would think. Because if they take the second away then they would have to tell the pats to give the 38 mil contract instead.

Which at that point I do not see how they would be able to afford their other WRs they just signed.

That's actually a very good point. I'm sure the pats are way more worried about what could happen than the fins. Heck, maybe we could use it in our favor. They need us to be on the same page with them to explain what happened with the deal, so maybe Mueller says "Hey pioli, I'll trade you our 6th rounder for your 3rd and I'll say whatever you want me to say" hahaha

Good point...But I think the pats would still be ok because they are around 7 mil under the cap and welker cap for the 18 mil was 1.3 mil i think...It wouldnt go up that much if that senario were to happen (maybe a million at the most). The 38 mil contract was in trade for the second rounder which is ok from what I have read, it was giving up the additional 7th rounder which in turn lowered Welkers salary because the Pats gave up an additional pick...Thats where the "scandal" started...

haha, kudos to you, cause it makes my brain hurt. Funny thing is that I'm not horrible at it, I just hate it, and I'm actually at work right now where I am working a temp job helping out an accounting department for a local company. hahaha

Yeah it was because according to the CBA I guess that would be tampering with the other teams ability to match. The posion pill has nothing to do with it because the NFLPA loves it. The owners do not. It has to do with the extra pick almost cutting Welkers contract in half. I mean look at it from the NFLPAs greedy player side (is a 7th round choice worth 20 MIL.) That is why the issue started.

And I am sure Welker had nothing to do with it. It is the rest of the "greedy" players out there. Because if this is alloud it give some power back to the owners to fight the posion pill.

great move.......and one this organization should continue doing.....i cant remember the last time we got a 2nd for anyone
