I dont know about yins but growing up in Pittsburgh sure you love all your Steel City teams the steelers, pirates, pens and pitt panthers. I mean i love them all to death. That being the case Marino was from the steel city and he was just the greatest qb of all time and we take pride being from an area where we boast the likes of Marino, Montana, Unitas, Namath, Kelly, Curtis Martin, LaVar Arrington, Ty Law, Jason Taylor, Kevan Barlow, Mark Malone, Mike Ditka, Tony Dorsett, Marco Rivera, Rueben Brown, Jeff Christy,Todd Sauerbrun, William Peterson, Sean Gilbert, James Big Cat Williams, Mike McMahon, Mike Logan, Charlie Batch, Marc Bulger, Gus Frerrote just to name a few. Its bread here in the fields where steel mills close by and its great to have Primantis Pittsburgher Cheesesteak and a nice cold Iron City Beer. Where sports tradition boils in your veigns. After saying all of this i wanted to shout out to the city I love and will always call home. I am in the military and have been all over the world but having a qb like Marino grow up right near you and attend your college PITT you just pull for a guy like that. Ive never respected or loved a player like I did Marino. He literally made me a Dolphins fan since he came in the league. I actually moved to Miami and am stationed in the army down in Miami on purpose so that i could have Miami Dolphins season tickets. I also have the Miami Dolphins logo tatooed on my left shoulder. After hearing a story like this you see how deep my ties with the dolphins run and what i would do for just to watch my team. God Bless the Dolphins and so far what a great season. Point of story Western Pa if you havent been will always be a sports city and although i love it so much there because of Marino i guess good old Pittsburgh didnt mind loning me out to be a lifelong finfan

By the way if there are any fans of the phins that are from western pa either living in the area or coming down to see a game at all i am very approachable and love to tailgate hours and hours before the game with Iron City, Rolling Rock and Yuengling. Feel free to make a comment and maybe we can link up before one of the next few games.

wow, i've always wondered just how many legends were born and raised here in PA, but i never knew it was that many. I knew marino, montana, and unitas, but the rest are a bit surprisingly. i wonder why that is. I know pennsylvania is one of the top 5 high school football recruiting states in PA, i just didn't think that many guys came from the same area. thats amazing.

Wow, I just read something in the paper today....

"The Ohio River Valley is the birthplace of Football. For as long as there has been football in the region, the best players from Ohio play the best players from Pennsylvania every year in the game known as the Big 33.

Incredibly, none of the first 39 Super Bowls of the NFL has been played without at least one alum from the Big 33 participating, and several times as many as 8 alums played in the same Super Bowl"

Now thats a Stat like no other......

yins as in "can yins give me a ride down 2 pants n that"

Thats a pretty impressive list --Before everyone gets on the Marino bandwagon, I would like to say that I have supported the Fins for a whole year b4 that :) I am impressed wuth that list of players though, can anyone beat that?

My uncles were all coal miners in Western PA and parts of West Virginia....they are all hard working people....their kids are taught to work hard and play hard. I think that is the reason so many of them have succeeded in the NFL....they have to work to get their way out of the steel mills and coal mines. Dan Marino will always be my favorite athlete in any sport. :)
