The NFL is incredible. An entire feeling around a team can be determined by a single play.

Imagine if the infamous 2&8 sack/strip/fumble never happened and the Dolphins went on to hang out for a razor-thin margin of victory against the lowly Bills? 4-2 headed into Foxboro for a battle for first place in the division. The fanbase would be geeked and thinking playoffs, the team would be brimming with confidence. But in the end, is the team any better or worse if that one play doesn't happen? This one play changed the perception of the team from one of a contender, to one of an utter failure. I can't blame anyone for feeling that the Dolphins are losers... That one play tainted my perception as well, its just so odd to think how our whole perception of the current state of the team hinged on a single play...

It also makes me think how truly difficult it is to build a winning team in this league, because a bounce of the ball one way or the other can determine the season. Are we too down on this team? In the NFL, we are prisoners of the moment. If the ball bounces in some crazy way in Foxboro and we are the beneficiaries this time, the pendulum will swing the other way again... What a crazy league!

I'm not sure one play changes how I feel about that Bills game. The fact that the Bills were even close in that game with a high school offense (as hoops put it) and a nobody QB making his third NFL start off the practice squad is pretty disturbing.

Not just the NFL but life in general. So many moments in your life that you can't go back and change that can effect your future. You have to take advantage in that moment. You may never get the same chance. Unfortunately most don't figure this out soon enough.

How about the pass interference that wasn't called on Hartline in the 2nd to last play. He was mugged. We would have had a field goal try from 45 yds. The refs in this league suck. They are so damn inconsistent.

Imagine if Scott Norwood makes that Fg or Eli manning doesn't elude that sack or ray Allen misses that 3 or Wes welker doesn't drop that pass in the Super Bowl. Kelly, Lebron and Eli are looked at in a completely different light based on one play. Silly but that's the way it is

The "game of inches" speech was truth.

Everyone keeps going on and on about Clabo, but we were in that game

DESPITE

Ryan throwing a pick 6 to start it out and that horrendous special team play which were both much worst plays.

I hear ya. 4-2 would have changed so much of what we have been talking about.

Perceptions are strange like that. Jerry Jones' son recently said that if Tony Romo had a ring, the perception of him would be completely different -- he might even be considered an all time great (he certainly has all time great type of stats) -- and I had to admit -- I agree with him.

You can go back to many of the games this year and say what if and maybe we lost excluding the NO game. We could just as easily be 1-5 as 5-1.

Shoulda woulda coulda. We have MAJOR issues with our consistency. If we don't get this **** worked out and stop shooting ourselves in the foot be prepared to be 3-5 after Halloween. Im just upset because despite all of our silly errors, the past 2 games were so winnable.

One play might ultimately decide a game for us, but that is only because we are not good enough to dominate the game in the first place. Even in the games we won...we just "got by." We didn't dominate anyone. Even if we did beat the Bills, who cares? That wouldn't change the fact that we would have barely beaten a team that was playing its 3rd string QB that was on the streets a month ago. This team just isn't that good.

Sturgis doesn't kick the kickoff out of bounds and give the Ravens the ball at the 40 we may have won one that one at well.

And if the queen had balls ..........

But which teams actually dominate anyone these days? There are about 6 teams in the league that have dominated anyone this year: Denver, Indy, Seattle, Carolina (against awful teams) and New Orlleans. The rest are in for a dog fight every Sunday where one play good or bad could determine the outcome.
