imo our TE corps must be upgraded and i don't think that any TE that we now have (halterman, martin, peele and ryan)..halterman can be a good special teams player, martin can be also a solid #2 tight end , peele i think was just successful in the playaction rollout and i just don't know anything about ryan..

imo davis has the ability to stretch the field and make good catches..i know he has not the best speed but it would be definitely an upgrade..

thoughts?

I think TE should be one of our priorities but I don't think Fred Davis is all that special. I see him as a poor blocking pass catching specialist who drops to many passes. I prefer Keller, Bennett, Carlson, Cottom or Barrnidge (although at different draft positions ranging from the 2nd through the 6th round).

FRED DAVIS is one of the players in this draft that
i want miami to take.

f/d is a future pro bowler who CAN BLOCK and catch.

he had a couple drops in the combine, but wasnt
plagued with them at usc.

he is by FAR the best TE in this draft and if parcells
takes him at 2a, fine with me! we nead a good TE.

hell, we need a TE period!!

he will be long gone by 2a though.

there are a few TE's in this draft that i wouldnt mind
seeing in a finz uni. cotham is a real enigma, he will
be pro bowl or bust. meaning, he will be available in
late round 4 on.

everyone is SO HUNG UP on defense and are not
realising that our offense is EVERY BIT AS BAD as
our defense is. maybe worse.

so i hope we FINALLY get some REAL skill players
in this draft.

why would it have to be our 2b? You just said yourself that you think that he will be gone by our next pick.

Because go look at the OL Depth chart and you'll see why. While we do have wholes everywhere on this team, OL is way more important to fill than our TE spots. Look for us to select the highrated OL at pick #32. Besides picking Fred Davis there would be a reach. He doesn't have the size BP and co. like either.

Besides picking Martellus Bennett at 2b would be a better option. Gritty TE who averaged 4 catches and 5 pancake blocks a game last year at Texas AM.

The reason so many people are hung up on our front 7 is because we were completely thrashed up front for most of the year. Teams could run & pass on us at will. Don't get me wrong the offense is pretty bad but based on where we pick and value.......hence why def is what most people talk about. I think we'll select 2-3 OL in this draft and a WR, TE, and QB.

Davis is listed at 6-2, which will limit him to more of an H-back role in the NFL (think Chris Cooley). Not exactly what the Fins are looking for in a TE.

TE is definitely one of our offseason priorities but we got some much much more important positions to use both our 2nd rounders on. We could get a nice sleeper tight end later down in the draft.

TE class is deep. We will either go for a TE in round 3 or 4.

-I AGREE, a terrific pick in the 4th. SIZE and SPEED w/ HANDS.

I believe it will be between Carlson, and Cottom. Carlson seems to like a Parcel's type TE (could be a porr mans Bavaro), is very well rounded, and if he is still there at 2b (big IF), I think we take him, if not we will take Cottom in the 3rd or 4th. Cottom's size is awesome, and he did look pretty good at the combines (I don't remember him dropping one ball).

With so many other pressing needs, I would NOT draft Fred Davis (or any other TE) in the 2nd round.

1-15 teams NEVER need a TE enough to pick one in the first 3 rounds. there was something far worse that was hurting this team than a lack of te
that having been said 5th mabey, 6 y not, sleeper with good potential and blocking skills
