What about signing Jeff Saturday?

Jeff Saturday is a stellar human, but he is the reason the Colts haven't had a rushing game in many years. He is an extreme liability in run blocking.

If we get Manning,Saturday, and Wayne running the ball will be a distant memory

What? This couldn't be further from the truth. I mean sure, he'll be 37 when the season starts and he has obviously isn't as great as he once was, but he was always a solid Center at run blocking and specifically pass blocking. Extreme Liability just isn't true, he was on a terrible Colts line that sucked at run blocking, but it wasn't because of Jeff Saturday.

I'm pretty sure I read where he graded out as a top 5 Center last season, yea, top 5 on a 2-14 Colts team.

Saturday is looking to retire and most likely will take a front office job with the colts

That offer may be true, but he has only a couple of years left of playing football. He is still effective, although he will be taking on Wilfork and the Jets DT (Poudt - can't remember his name) twice a year. If he is up for it, and can hold up the position, his age doesn't matter.
If Manning wants him, and Miami agrees, I can see him playing 1-2 more seasons.

Pouncey will have a great career as a C. He could have an elite career as a G. If Manning wants Jeff Saturday, Pouncey is moving over.

Hell id move pouncey over just based on thinking hes a better guard than center. Manning scenario aside, you could start a debate whether its more beneficial to move pouncey and draft konz, or keep pouncey at center and draft a guard.

For a player like Pouncey I really expect a hugh upswing in his learning curve from year one to year two. Will be very interesting to see how he has developed physically also now that he's a pro and can focus on that. So, I'd leave him at Centre for sure.. If Saturday comes cheap then sure pick him up as a quality backup but nothing more... he'd probably help more with mentoring Pouncey than anything.

Thanks guys. I've enjoyed reading all the differing points-of-view.

Jeff Saturday should have retired years ago and the only reason why he had a job is because Peyton forced Polian to extend him after Polian had cut him.

So no thanks, do not want. He's a turnstile Center and is no better than Colombo at this point.
