The days of Coaches Coach and Players play and Shut the hell up are LONG GONE and this environment was created by the transient nature of the Management positions (HC,GM etc...) Everyone Knows (including Players) that if they don't win the Coach will eventually be fired! And they also know that no one pays to see coaches. Todays Player coach relationship is Just like any other relationship, COMMUNICATION IS KEY. You absolutely have to communicate your plans to the players if for no other reason than to give them clarity on why they are doing what they are doing. But communication is absolutely vital if you want BUY IN! If the players all buy in to the plans then if the plan doesn't work you don't have the players questioning the gameplan because they all agreed with it. This is what Dansby Bush and Long was trying to establish before they were shown the door. I hope Philbin wakes up and smells the coffee soon.

Communication is not the problem here. Agreement and consensus is the problem.

In this case Wallace had a fit that he wasn't targeted after a successful play to another player.

You can "talk" all you want but in the end if you don't agree that the TEAM is the most important then the result will be the same.

C'mon.....the guys had a hissy fit and refused to play. You can over complicate this as much as you want....but if you have a problem, this certainly is not the way to deal with it.

This isn't just about Wallace though. A defensive player said yesterday that "He's a part of this team and organization and has no idea what goes into the decisions that are being made" I think it was wheeler or Jenkins not 100% sure. Odrick yelled at the coaches two weeks ago. Hartline voiced his concerns about what the plans were earlier in the season. It's OBVIOUS that there's a communication issue here. Players feel like they're not kept in the loop, and that's fine when you're winning. But when you're losing........ it's a recipe for disaster.

These are GOWN ASS MEN!! You can't just tell them to jump off a bridge and not explain to them why and get them to buy into it first.

I agree, I don't think you ever quit. But I think it the overall situation was handled better it wouldn't have gotten to that.
