Now that Atlanta has agreed to send DeAngelo Hall to the Raiders for there 2nd round pick, I think it has to be a little more likely now that the Falcons try and trade up to #1 to select Matt Ryan since everyone knows they are in complete love with him and desperately need a new franchise QB.

Miami would get ATL #3 overall and ATL/OAK 2nd round pick
Atlanta would get #1 overall pick.

I think this would be the absolutely best scenario for us and i truely hope it happens. We could still select an very outstanding player at #3 (either Jake Long, Chris Long, Gholston, Clady or whoever). And we would get to pay less for our top pick not to mention also add another potential starter at the top of round 2. That would ultimately mean we would have 5 picks in the top 64 selections.

How much more likely ya'll think this is now that ATL has to high round 2 picks???

Sounds good but lots of times you hear people talk up certain players because they really want someone else. I wouldn't bet the farm that Atlanta wants Ryan, their in great shape to pick 4 top notch players in the first two rounds. One of those picks in the second could easily be B.Brohm,J.Flacco,C,Henne.

They got an extra second rounder from the M.Schaub trade last year. Therefore they have 3 second round picks this year.

Atlanta is more interested in acquiring more picks than they are trading up. They have no motivation to trade up if they want M. Ryan because nobody above them wants him and nobody behind them will trade up for him. It's just wishful thinking. I'd say there is zero percent chance we'll trade down because nobody wants the top spot.

Well swordfish it sounds like you have your hands on the pulse of the draft. BP must have told you personally who he intends to pick. If thats the case I wish you would let the rest of us in on it. To me it looks like Atlanta is aquiring picks so they can move up.

I would LOVE it if Atlanta traded up and gave Miami an extra 2nd round pick.

But as sword said, i really don't see them doing that. They have many needs, just like us, and need many draft picks and i don't really think they are looking to pay for the #1 overall pick again. They will get a top talent at #3, either Ryan, Long, Dorsey, etc and can easily pick up a QB early in round 2, or trade back into Round 1 and get one. They could also trade back into Round 1 to get a top corner, like McKelvin, Rodgers-Cromartie, or others now that Hall seems to be headed out. Having the extra picks give them MANY options and a lot of flexibility, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are stockpiling them to move to #1 overall.

I agree they need many players as do we, but everything I've heard and read says that Atlanta and owner Arthur Blank are in love with Matt Ryan and in my opinion would definitely consider trading up to #1 to ensure they get him and now since they have 3 2nd round picks they wouldnt have to lose a whole round to do so.

Dont forget they traded alot of picks away to get to #1 to get there last franchise QB, all i'm saying is in my opinion it would be more likely to happen now that they have another 2nd round pick to work with.

Thanks for the smart*** comment. I'm just going by what the experts say. If there is no chance (as many Dolphin fans say) that the Dolphins nor Rams will select M. Ryan, why on earth would the Falcons trade up? Like I said wishful thinking. But feel free to keep doing so.

The draft is over a month away...no one can say what will happen...but if your the Falcons and you have three second rounders...and the top rated QB is Ryan...not only for this draft but the next...what would you do? Teams know this fact...if they want Ryan...they will have to trade up. You can also add the fact that the Falcons owner is hot for Ryan..it's easy to add up what they can do...over what they should do.

Not much, if any in my opinion. I think the Falcons are well content on staying put at #3, and calling our bluff on Ryan situation....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Maybe...but maybe we should wait till Tuesday to see how Ryan does in his Pro-day and who comes to visit him. Atlanta is not the only team that needs a QB.

I would think they learnt a valuable lesson there and might not want to walk into that one again.

Why, who's gonna draft him ? If we really wanted him bad then why would we trade him away ? Doesn't make any sense to me unless the offer was HUGE and I don't see M.Ryan being hyped as the next great one. Sure he'll probably be good but good enough to warrent a large trade offer. M.Vick was a freak of an athlete and was thought to be able to transform the QB position. Atlanta didn't realize he was just a freak.
