drafting the top rated OT in Round 1, sticking him at RT, and kicking Carey inside to RG? I dont know who are the top rated tackles after Oher, but it's just a thought. The RG spot is clearly the weak link on the line right now, and this would solidify it, and allow younger players like Donald Thomas and Shawn Murphy to learn while providing some depth. I know most like Carey at RT, but I think he could be a dominant guard as well. Then I would hope we go after Suggs and possibly Nhamdi in FA. Thoughts?
 
If we retained Carey he would cost too much money to stick at guard. While he would have Shawn Andrews type talent at guard, thats top FA tackle money for a guard
 
No we need to address something else in the first round this year. I do think it is an idea to think about, but I think we should draft a linebacker, CB, or FS in the first round.
 
We had a 6th rounder named Donald Thomas this year who got injured before the start of the season. He was getting first team snaps and looks really promising (6'6, 330lbs). If he plays to par next year, I say we gotta go with defense in the draft, Greg Hardy perhaps?
 
Draft the best RT in the second round and let Carey go. He's not doing anything this year.
 
Donald Thomas is gonna be a better guard than Carey . . . If anything u draft a Tackle to completely replace Carey . . . which is something we may do . . . I dunno, but regardless we are gonna draft OT in this draft . . . if we keep and resign Carey it will be on day 2 . . . if we let him go . . . we either get another one in FA or we draft a OT on day 1 and day 2 for depth.

i would def take the chance, i think we need our 1st rounder for a skill position this year
 
vernon carey has been playing good imo... not the best RT in the NFL but definitely the in the top 10 starters... i wouldn't let him go

Did you watch him play? He looked so promising a couple articles had him as a top rookie this year, even though he only played one game :lol:
