Saban cracks me up. Yesterday, I was watching his recent after practice press conference, and when someone brought up excuses he just about lost it. I love that about him. I didn't bring this up to bash Wanny, but I must point out that Wanny's placid demeanor grated on my nerves, especially after a poor performance by our team and/or coaching staff. I know there is more to coaching than just being intense, and I believe or at least hope Saban has those qualities too, but at least with Saban I feel he will hold his staff and players accountable. Even if it means losing his cool and getting in someone's face. So far that is what I like most about Saban. How about you?

Saban is everything I want in a coach...so far anyways. I think the wins will come so that would be the one "unknown"

as far as attention to detail, talent evaluatings importance, and hording of the draft pics he is doing things right.

i cant stand belicheks demeanor or the way he looks lol, so i already like saban better than him, although the SB wins are hard to argue with.

He has a confidence in his system. He knows that it is his responsibility to teach every detail and focus the team on the process and not the end result.

He is very protective of the team from outside sources (media). He doesn't want the media (or fans for that matter) to erode team morale or give the opposition the slightest advantage. Doesn't tolerate stupid hypothetical questions that are meant to divide the team.

He doesn't worship the QB position. He is creating the best atmosphere for one of the three to stand up and take the lead...but, he refuses to take that simple fan approach to building a team around a QB.

Most importantly, he is trying to instill and raise the level of Mental Toughness on this team. He knows, that like last season, there will be a lot of close games that will simply be determined by which team wants it the most...and which team crumbles under pressure. Mental toughness doesn't care what the score is or how many things go wrong. It never quits and never rolls over.

The fact that he doesn't take crap from anybody. It his way or the highway. The man is as intense as they come.

His three I's. Intesity Integrity and Intellegence.

Great question!!

I couldn't agree more with this response!! All I ask from any coach is that he tries and gets the best out of his players!! It's great to get to the Super Bowl, but first one must improve every year. When we had Wannstedt it was the exact opposite. He started out okay then steadily went downhill. In addition, Wannstedt made a habit of blaming everyone else for his mistakes. I like a coach who will take full responsibility. We still don't know what Saban's legacy will be but we do have hope and faith. At least now when Sunday arrives I don't dread what the finally outcome will be!!

He should be about 6 inches taller, that is the only thing I don't like about him. Someone as tough and as smart as he is shouldn't be as small as he is. Then again Napoleon was a tiny guy as well.

I like that he's meticulous in his creation. he actually has a vision of what he wants. It's personal to him. This is his creation and his players & coaches are his pieces.
i may not always agre with how he goes about it (eg: bua ... sage at #2 etc.) but i'm very much into seeing what will come out of it all.

Well what I like about him is this. He doesn't take anyone's crap. THe media? He pissed in their wheaties, he made an NFL player cry (even if he is just a kid), and he won't let anyone make excuses for playing bad. He's forcing them to "man up". Either play right, or don't play at all.

Wanny was more of a "hey guys, please"

 Yeah, either that or he should have a body guard. Hmmm, maybe Shaq can moonlight over at dolphin HQ... :D

Everything and anything.

After Wanny, I love everything about Coach S
