On my way home from work today, I was thinking about what we can do next year about our QB situation (It pains me to think that I will now have to wait another 9 months or so for the season to begin again). What do you think of this plan. I may be barking up the wrong tree with this one but here it goes:

With our 1st round pick, draft one of the stud QB's. (Assuming one will be available when we pick)

Sign Seneca Wallace to a FA contract with the intention of having him battle Lemon for the starting job and give the 1st round QB a year to sit and learn as the 3rd stringer.

Feel free to agree or disagree but please don't be a d!ck about it. I'm not even sure this is a good idea. Just posting an idea.

honestly i dont like Senaca as a starter...i just dont see him ever being one...but thats just my opinion

Seneca Wallace :shakeno:

Jon Kitna anyone?
Brees to Miami looks unrealistic day by day but I like him anyway.

unrealistic is an understatement...with that being said, never say never.

But isn't he the backup in Seattle? If so, doesn't that say he's good enough to be called in case Hasselbach goes down?

I'm not giving up but I understand the Chargers love Brees and may resign him...unless Phil Rivers starts complaining. :D

I've heard that Holmgren likes Seneca and wants him to be their next QB, but I'd love to have him. He's my homer choice though. Love ISU.

Do not assume a backup QB is "good enough" in case someone goes down. Was Sage good enough, how about when we had Marino towards the end of his career Huard was backing him up. And Huard went on to backup Peyton. Damon Huard was a bum!
But anyway, about your plan.. I think that this whole Lemon ordeal should be toyed with a bit this year. Gotta find out now cause he could be WORSE than Gus and Sage combined. I know he's still learning and all that, but... His accuracy isn't gonna change by him reading a clipboard. Not saying he has bad accuracy at all, just naming one thing that won't change while he's learning.

Well for one Damon went on to be backup for the Pats where he had gotten a superbowl ring with them and had a picture with former dolphins who had been with us also. Showing us their rings. huard has backed up some pretty good Qbs and also had some good wins for us when he backed up Marino. Calling the guy a bum is a cheap shot since he never did get his chance to start when he was supposed to be the guy. But Wanny loved fiedler and we all know how that turned out.

I say we clone Marino every 10 years. Now it will take 22 years to finally pay off but in 24 years we'll have a young Marino for the next thousand years

I don't like your idea, because I think that I would rather have the team have a veteran around who has started in the league for the rookie to have around. I would rather see the guy who was drafted on the field rather than Lemon or Wallace also, they obviously would be nothing more than short term answers. IMO, their is one stud Qb in next years draft right now and that is Leinart, and unless Saban is willing to sacrifice draft picks, he's not gonna be in Miami. The team needs a guy to call the Qb of the future, and if Quinn or Young don't declare, Saban is gonna get on the hotseat because I think we maybe waiting til '07 if that happens, where I think the Qb class can be potentially loaded with Brohm/Quinn/Young/Jacobs/Booty-who has yet to play a down but was called the most talented Qb he's ever coached by Norm Chow/Leak/ and Ainge if he gets it together. I think many people thought that the draft class was weak last year, but this year I think the top of the draft this year is very talented with Bush/Ferguson/Leinart going 1-2-3 IMO, and then guys like Hawk, Williams, Brooks, Mercedes Lewis going after that. A weak area in this years draft is probably wideout, I don't think their is that many 1st rd wideouts like in the past, so I hope the team brings someone in via free agency.

I still dont get how a Vince Young would fit into a Linehan system. I can't picture Saban being patient enough with a QB who's best skill is improvisation

I'll pass. I'd like to see a more experienced guy in there. David Carr or Jon Kitna are top on my list.

On Monday Quarterback they talked about the Brees/Rivers situation, and said if S.D. doesn't sign Brees to a contract they will have to pay him 125% of the average for his position, if they franchise him. Now, it seems to me that they are against a wall, even if they have the cap space, and would have to decide on the two of them.
