With the things Zach Thomas has accomplished over his career, if he retired at the end of the year would you say he deserves to be in the hall of fame?
wazzy said:No, He needs to win a championship and play like this for the next 3 years for him to make the HOF.
guatemalanfan said:i think he would be. but not after 5 years.it would take time

maybe after 10 years he will get in.
but the only active LB that i know for sure will be in the Hall is R. Lewis.

I know the numbers are similar but Brooks has one thing over Thomas and that is a championship and that is why I think Brooks has a better chance in making it into the HOF if they were to retire this year. I'm not saying Thomas won't make it into the HOF but he still needs to play a few more great seasons. If he wins a championship though I think he is a lock on the HOF.weisdolphins said:The reason I ask is because people say that Derrick Brooks (Buccaneers) is a hall of fame caliber player and their numbers aren't that different with Brooks being in the league a year longer than Zach Thomas

i ment 10 years after he retires.
a player has to wait 5 years after retierment before he can get in the hall. first ballot (players entered in to the hall exactly 5 years after retierment) hall of famers are GREAT players. consitered to be among the greatest. but most hall of famers have to wait more than 5 years.

i dont think defensive players have to have a championship to be in the hall. but if a great LB is on a ALL TIME great defense, than that almost garentees he will be in the hall.weisdolphins said:Yeah but thats why us dolphins fans always argued with everyone about Dan Marino not having a championship
