I keep telling myself that I (and everyone else on this forum) know much less than Dan Henning about calling a game. That said, could there have been any worse of a call in any NFL playbook to run in that position on the field.

I'm just wondering WTF goes on in Henning's head to prompt him to make such an atrocious call??

He probably thought something along the lines of, "if ricky can throw this TD we're going to give Belichick a lot to think about for next week..."

I really, really don't know. I'm trying to be objective, but i just don't understand the call at all. I mean maybe it makes a little more sense with Ronnie Brown or Pat White, but still you have to examine how you got down the field. Straight ahead running. How do you not stick with that in the situation?

I'm thinking he just assumed that we'd totally catch them off guard since Ricky never throws out of the formation. Regardless, just an absolutely mind-boggling call.

there isnt really an excuse except he sucks.. he cant call a game to save his ***. For every ONE good playcall he has, he has 4 bad ones that go with it

Catching somebody off guard is different than just being plain stupid. I mean yeah the Bills were caught off guard because nobody has seen Ricky Williams throw a pass in 10 years. Letting Lou Polite throw on 4th and 1 would catch the Bills of guard also, but that doesn't mean it's the right call, or would have any kind of success.

"It's going too well. Let's **** it up!" Honestly though, I think that was Ricky's brilliant idea.

He didn't think, that's the problem. Just one of the most mind boggling stupid calls I've ever seen. Sparano should have called a time out and taken Henning to task for making such a stupid call.

If the all works, we're all calling him a genius.

That said........Jesus. come on. They haven't stopped us yet, why stop doing what we do right then?

There is no need to trick Buffalo when they obviously couldnt stop a straight handoff up the middle. Stupidest **** ever.

Reminds me from that great line in the Seinfeld episode when Kramer is taking karate...........Jerry says to Kramer "Theyre 9 years old. You dont need karate. You can just ring their necks!!"

Basically the same thing.

It looked like he threw it when he saw the defense coming at him.

Yeah, it was a designed pass play.. It was just another really really bad playcall. Maybe Ricky made a bad decision by hesitating to throw the ball for a split second, but the play should have never been called to begin with

Now that I think of it I kinda blame Ricky too. After all he did throw the ****ing thing. He shouldve said to himself as soon as he broke the huddle "This is a stupid ****ing idea" and went on his own.

He shouldve just taken the ball and thrown it out of the back of the endzone immediately, knowing we would have 2 more downs to score and that if they gave it to him to run the next down, they probably wouldnt need 3rd down.

In fact, the entire offensive personel shouldve just laughed in the huddle and said we'll just kill this play and hope they call something respectable on 2nd down. Kind of like how you would treat someone with Alzheimers disease. Just look past it and do your best.
