i wish i knew what it felt like to see my phins get to the superbowl. i was born in 86, and have memories of the dolphins going to the playoffs most of the 90's. but what does it feel like to see this team win it all,or atleast make it to the big game? not one of my teams have won the big game since i was born. im from baltimore and a orioles fan (nuff said, dont even watch baseball anymore), im a louisville fan, and most of all a dolphins fan. the dolphins are the only team i truely care about tho. if they lose it messes up my whole week. i just want to see what it feels like to have my team make it to the big game. sometimes i wonder if i will ever see it happen, the way the organization is ran. like another poster said yesterday, another optimist is dead... atleast for now

I was 16 when the Fins last went to the SB (SB19 vs SF). I thought there was no way the Marino Air Corps could be stopped. Its was awesome just smashing our way thru the regular season & steamrolling Seattle & Pitt in the playoffs. Well, then the game happened (38-16 SF) & the rest is history...

I almost made this exact same thread last night. I was born in 87 and have been a Dolphins fan for as long as I can remember. I've never been lucky enough to witness this team play in a super bowl and at times I wonder if I ever will be.

I'm a big Mavericks fan, and seeing all the worthy vets and Cuban finally win one was a great feeling. However, as much of a Mavs fan as I am, I'm an even bigger Dolphins fan. Words can't describe how happy I'd be to watch us win, or even play in the big game.

This video is a perfect example of how I feel about this team right now. I feel like we continue to spiral out of control and until we make some changes within the staff, we'll continue down the same road.

I just want to have a winning organization that I can be proud of.

1983 - It was awesome Marino lit it up all season and well we lost respectably but we lost to the John Riggins and the Hogs - It felt like we would be back beacuse Dan was so young but................... It was like a hit of crack -

1985 - It was a painful loss to the Niners - we got handled badly..., i still thought we would be back and like that first hit of crack you just keep wanting it more and more

2011 - still waiting still wanting to watch a victory in the SB

I watched the Fins on TV win 1972 and 1973 super bowl. I was very happy.

don't worry tony says he has no answers and will right the ship

Just for the safety of a large portion of the folks here, I hope they never get the chance to see the phins make it to the super bowl, and lose. I'm afraid there will be a mass suicide. In my "younger days", I got myself so worked up after the loss to the 'skins in SB 17, I was up all night, replaying the game in my head, trying to figure out what went wrong. I missed the next day at work, it was AWFUL. Then when the 49ers started rolling up the points in that SB, I about blew a gasket before the game was even over.
I can only imagine what would happen to the MANY on this site that rewatch, analise, and give us a "breakdown" of preseason games....tragic, tragic indeed. You better hope that if we make it, we win. Cuz watching your team lose a SB is anything but fun.

I saw our team win it all in 72 and 73 but I was 12 at the time.....it'd mean so much more now....I guess I've been very lucky to a point in other sports....grew up rooting for the lakers and have seen them win it all about 10 times.....(started rooting for the heat when they got their team and they won one.....grew up rooting for the Reds and saw them win in 75, 76 and 90...started rooting for the marlins whey they got their team and won 2......I'd trade all that just to see my Dolphins win one.

Ozzy rules!!

lmao.....but you're right.....back on those day any game we lost would mess up my whole week....is a little different now.....as much as I love our team. I don't let it get to me after the game is over. Having a great wife and God in my life helps a lot.

I hate to be the one to bring this up, but it was David Woodley as our QB against the Redskins.. Riggins was completely unstoppable that game.. Our biggest linebackers literally bounced off him when trying to tackle him and the defense had to gang tackle him.. Sad game for our Fish..

I first became a Dolfan back in during the 71-72-73 season.. I was just getting to the age when I realized there was more to life than Mom and Dad.. and it was when I was living in Tampa that I found the Dolphins and have been a faithful ever since..

From the mid 70's all the way thru 1990, I can remember that even when the team didnt make they playoffs, we were still a competitive team and was respected by the rest of the league.. much like Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Indy is today.. All I have to say is THANK YOU MR SHULA...

When Jimmy Hairball took over the team, there was still respect from the league and hope for us fan.. That is... until... ummm.. that one blowout game by Jax... Marino's last game...

Since then, its been a clusterf*ck nightmare with all these wanna be head coaches and over-rated QB's and loud mouth players.. Probably the worse is the so-called Finheaven fans blurting out how we're smoking too much and that we all need to chill.. because its pre-season and the games dont mean anything..

Once you've witness a class football organization... let me change that.. when you followed the day to day activities of the best organized team in all of professional sports for the best part of 18 years.. Its real easy to see that Henne is a 2nd rate QB and Sparano is a bumblin, stumblin idiot.. We dont need to wait until the regular season starts to know the team isnt going anywhere..

Personally speaking, I dont see any light at the end of the tunnel right now.. Not one person within the Dolphin's organization excites me.. and all I have to say is its gonna get worse.. a lot worse.. before it will get better..

I agree with everything you said except the part about Henne. He has improved and I am not ready to give up on him yet. However, if a better QB comes along, we should take him.
The sustained excellence of the Miami Dolphins was just amazing. It seems so long ago now.
I am afraid we will never have that feeling again.

all i can remember about 72 is jumping up and down in my csonka jersey and running to tell my mom the dolphins won. i was 8.

I've been a fan since I was about 5 or 6. I played football as a little guy and my father liked the Vikings. I tried to like the Vikings but couldn't. I did not like their uniforms or helmets. I saw the Dolphins play in and loved their helmets. You know, the Dolphin symbol. Only being a young kid what else would you like. Saw the unbeaten season. Saw the SB after that. I was glad for those. Hurt me to my heart when Jake the snake Stabler floated that bull**** pass to beat them the next year. Such a lucky play. Under Shula the Dolphins were almost always winning the division. Hell we know he took the team to 5 SB's even with David Woodley as Qb. Shula just trusted his coordinators too much later on. He was a very loyal person it seems to them. If he wasn't maybe Marino would have won one. What's happening now is because of ownership. The owners this team has had since Joe cant pick a coach or gm to save their life. Wayne H couldn't and it seems Ross can't either. Oh well, I am not one these ppl. on here saying I'm done with this team. I'll be rooting for them till the day I die. Good or bad.
