I have been away in the desert for the last month so I may not be as up to date as some so anybody wanna share some views on the Pennington signing feel free.

The one thing that seems certain is that the starter's job is definately his to lose and the signing sort of seems to emit that the staff was not impressed with any of qb's enough to go with them as a starter. It would seem at least from my observations that Henne has earned more of a committment from the staff in thier eyes and that may just be that he is a rookie. This was definately a suprise because I figured that with all the work that Beck did and the money spent on McCown that they would get more of a chance. Does anybody think that the decision to sign Pennington was a direct reflection of them not liking what they saw of Beck and McCown? I just hope we arrive from all this with a good starter at some point. I cant blame them for giving Pennington the reins at this point but hope Henne shows enough at some point to take the job.

I think you hit it pretty much right on the nail. It appears the new regime was not happy with the option of Beck or McCown opening the season as the starter. They appear to like Henne, but probably would rather not start a rookie from day one. Pennington is all but announced the starter. As you mentioned, it is his job to lose.

Pennington appears to be the quarterback of the present and Henne is the quarterback of the future(that future could start as early as the middle of this season, but more likely 2009).

Beck and McCown seem to be fighting it out right now for the 3rd spot. Though the winner between those two will likely assume the #2 spot for the early part of the season. They probably would rather go with the veteran early on instead of the rookie.

Also believe it or not it does not make me happy to think we might have wasted another pick with Beck. People wanting our players to fail make no sense I would rather be wrong and have a good player than right and told us so. Very dissapointing that neither of these guys stood out enough.

It seems to mean the competition is over. I think Sparano did have an open competition at the beginning of camp hoping someone would step up. No one did so now the consequences are very harsh for Beck and McCown. Unless Pen collapses the role is his until Henne is ready.

I dont think Parcels and Co. were really confident that Beck was ready from the start. Henne is the guy they like, but that does not mean Beck is out. It means he wasnt ready yet. McCown was hired because he was the best option available to us at the time, when we got him. When Pennington became available they did give him time to even blink before they had an offer in front of him. They like Pennington alot more then anyone on our current rooster for this season. I would definitly say the starter job is his to lose.

Unless someone offers something of good value for Beck, I think he will be around one more year to have an opprotunity to impress this staff, if not he will get cut or traded next year.

It also looks like Henne is thier vison of the future, and he will be given every opprotunity to suceede here.

McCown I would say has a huge question mark hanging over his head. This is his third year in the league and despite everything that has been said about him, he did ok last season in Oakland. Unfortunatly its looking like it might of been a fluke season for him, because he is not lighting it up in our camp.

I think its possible we keep 4 QB's on this seasons rooster and find ourselves looking for another QB next offseason after we cut both of them.

beck is gone because of money they spent on MClown. Its all about money and Beck drafted by Meuller. Henne will be our starting QB by game four. Thats my prediction. and then you can pray that Henne does not get hurt.

My view, I doubt Henne touches the field this season unless Penny gets hurt, I'd go with 09 for that. I think McCown seems likely to get the 3rd string job, I have a feeling the front office will try to get something for beck, sooner then later IMO.

right now it's present penny future henne

penny isn't the most durable of qbs though.
