The one draft that sticks out in my mind was the 1989 draft. We had two number 1's and we took Sammie Smith and Louis Oliver. Man, I really thought that we would finally have a running game. Wrong! Louis Oliver worked out though.

I can picture Sammie Smith's first game like it was yesterday. After his long hold out he plays against the Patriots, I think it was a rainy day. His first run is like for 12 yards and I look at my brother and we both say, "YEEEEAAH!" Then he sprains an ankle and it goes down hill after that.

Memories..............

I think every year since Marino retired and in the first round never taking a Quarterback. Last year hurt the most though.:foundout:

I hear the QB talk, god have we had some turds over the year. Ray Lucas you just knew there was no playoffs and no chance to win because the defense couldn't give up more than 14 points to when. He made me wish Fiedler was back.

I have had no energy to even fight for a great QB, because Miami just did NOTHING for 8+ years to help the QB situation other than sign other teams trash. Beck I have high hopes for. Yes he made some bad plays this past season but was his rookie year and OL was gassed.

I have higher hopes this year more than last year and most of our starters will be gone. I think the replacements they have and the coaches we have Beck will show he is the future and play very well. Honestly haven't felt this comfortable with QB's on the roster in a very long time. QB will be a pick in the draft and relatively early but to back up Beck. McCown will be stop gap in the event Beck gets hurt while the rookie learns the ropes. Atleast it appears to be the plan.

I know it was last year but when teddy ginn was chosen over quinn will always stick in my head forever. im happy with the ginn family, his mom, sister, dad, brother and cat, but I will always remember the shock with dolphin fans when we drafted him.

i dont see how it cant be this.. not saying its my favorite or the best.. but as far as the one i remember the most... has to be this one

I will never forget my anger after Ted Ginn was drafted. I walked out of the house I was so angry.

I'd say Saban's first draft stood out since we actually got more than 3 players in the draft that stuck for more than one year

Sammie Smith... god.

But last year's pick just left me speechless. I'm not saying it's a bad pick but I still believe we picked Ginn and not Quinn.

2005 draft with Ronnie and Crowder.

Yep... this one for me too...

I REALLY wanted a RB and I was hoping we didn't draft Cadillac. I knew Ronnie was a beast after seeing him run people over in college... I was SO happy when we took him.

I have said it before...
I was at the draft in 1983 when I was in the 11th grade. A friend and I cut school to go to the draft.

I Love The Draft!!

That is the draft that stands out in my head too I wanted Louis Oliver soooo bad at #9 and ESPN had him on thecamera like Brady Quinn last year. He really thought he was going to Miami at the 9th slot. They announced SMITH and not Emmitt but the fumbling juggernaut from FSU!! I was so mad but at the Chicago Bears spot at 25 of the first round I heard my brother say trade and it was with the DOLPHINS...... I was so excited and then they showed Louis Oliver on the phone......With the 25th pick of the 1989 NFL draft the miami Dolphins select LOUIS OLIVER,FLORIDA Safety!!! I was jumping around like the PHINS just won the Super Bowl!! I really thought Louis was the missing link to our porous secondary at that time. Man that's when I became addicted to the NFL draft because you never know what's going on behind the scenes and a trade could pop up at any time. So with Jake Long taken by our Dolphins...this Saturday stay tuned, you never know if the commish will come up and say "There's a trade"... it might be with the Miami Dolphins!

I honestly haven't really watched any drafts at all since the year of 1999 (Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb.) Back when I collected football cards I'd follow the draft almost every single year, I'd even watch the entire first round (all that was shown on ESPN1 back then) and write down who drafted who.

I cannot reckon the last time I've been really excited about a Miami Dolphin's draft, but looking back at the 2001 selections I was intrigued by all the wrong reasons. First was the fact that Jamar Fletcher (1st, #26th) and Chris Chambers (2nd, #52nd) were from the same exact school playing for the same pro team (I thought it was cool at the time.) Then was Travis Minor, the undersized back who played for the runner-up National Champ Florida State Seminoles playing with the quarterback who beat him in the National Championship - Josh Heupel.

I had always hated Heupel because his Sooners would always beat down on my Huskers, but knowing that he could help my favourite team in all sports warmed me up to him - but that didn't last!

I remember the draft where we took Webb and Sims.

Also, the John Avery draft..

Eddie Moore...

*sigh*

Need more good memories.

I agree

The Cameron draft was just ridiculous.

How can you not remember his IDIOTIC comment about justifying taking a WR over a franchise QB. As much as i like Ted Ginn now, it's always the draft you'll look back on and think "remember when we took Ginn over Quinn".
