I have been reading threads where people are saying Saban should clean house and bring in his own type of players, what exactly are "his" type of players???

Smart and players that never quit and ones who always give 110% every game.

He drafts players from the SEC because he has seen them play in person and knows what they are capable of doing, he knows those players much better then any other players.

Ummmmm......Jason Allen can't get on the field because he can't understand the defensive playbook. Culpepper can't get rid of the ball becuae he can't read a defense.

I don't think smart defines a Saban-type of player.

what exactly is a saban typr player? hmm..one who constantly gets called for pass interference? one who gets drafted 16th overall and warms the bench? one who is in his mid-30's? one who drops passes right in his hands? one who crys during practice?? one who can't fall on an onside kick when he falls right on top of it???

Maybe Jason Allen is hurt, his hip could be bothering him again and Culpepper is hurt and after last year he is trying not to make the bad decisions which leads to sacks because he holds the ball for so long.

Culpepper was playing horribly and making horrible reads last season - BEFORE his knee injury. C-Peps problems right now are both mental and physical.

Allen is not getting it - he isn't hurt. If he is hurt then Saban and crew have no business - ever - running a draft room as they reached for a player who is injured - makes no sense to me. Allen can't understand the schemes and calls required for him to make on the field - therefore he can't get on the field to play.

ALL coaches, like consistent playmakers.

Saban likes guys who are CONSISTENT. guys who play well at all times...well look at us.

As for DL and OL...he likes the big beefy guys...as for linebackers and runningbacks, he likes the big and tall guys. He basically likes BIG guys, he wants every team to hate playing us...sorta like intimidation. but realize this is NFL, chances of being intimidated arent high.

IMO, the best players are the SPEEDY ones. The Ravens lost, but they got the best defense pretty much...and if u see their linebackers, they are the fastest linebackers out there...thats why they are so darn good. If i was coach, i would be looking for speedy guys. Drafting guys who had a good 40 time...signing veterans who are FAST. they may not be the best tacklers and or blockers, but if they are FAST...the opposing team will be manhandled.
