The day before free agency began, it had already become clear the Dolphins planned to overhaul the offensive line. First, guards Bennie Anderson and Seth McKinney were out. A day later, guard Jeno James' contract was terminated. Free agents Damion McIntosh and Kendyl Jacox also would go unsigned.

Then, however, came silence. The house had been cleaned, but the beds remained empty. After a month of free agency, only one linemen had been signed -- guard Chris Liwienski.

And while Liwienski has been a proven starter (he served as Culpepper's guard in Minnesota during his 2004 Pro Bowl season), his addition certainly isn't the type of reconstruction many expected.

However, make no mistake, Cameron absolutely believes this line can still be rebuilt before next season's start. And he plans to use the draft as his biggest resource.

''We are going to re-create this,'' Cameron said. ``Four years ago [in San Diego] after we went 4-12, we reloaded the entire offensive line and it included two rookies. Nick Hardwick was a rookie at center and Shane Olivea was a rookie at tackle and we went 12-4. We went 4-12 to 12-4 and reloaded the entire offensive line.''

Like I've said, I expect 2 first day offensive linemen; one inside and one tackle.

I have been saying the same thing. I can see at least three lineman taken, two very possible among our first three draft picks. Looks like Rex, for now, stays at center. I prefer looking at a true center in the draft. Outside of two linemen there was not enough impact among the OL available in FA. We have no choice but to look to the draft as first option. Maybe a draft day trade for an established vet using combination of future picks could be up our sleeves.

Yes... expect us to binge heavily on o-line in the draft.

He also stated in this interview that neither player were selected in the first round. Combine that with Houck's theory on finding starters in the mid rounds and IMO you can count on a "skill position" for at least #9.

I wouldn't say that Hadnot is a sure thing at center...not at all. Especially when the Dolphins have already said that they are rebuilding from the center on out. By selecting a center in the draft...the Dolphins can move back Hadnot to the guard position....where he belongs.

Agreed that this should be done. Just the right move has not been done yet. A question here is there a vet center out there available for us to trade for in a draft day trade while we go guard and tackle on day 1 of the draft? I like Cam's comment about building from the center out. Hope he can keep with the plan.

Not to mention Liwienski was always a very solid lineman in Minnesota, on one of the better offensive lines in football though. Here has one of the best offensive line coaches in football, i think he's going to blossom.

I expected this originally, but now I think we end up drafting two guys (LT and C/G type and then another FA after June 1 IMO because I do think Mueller wants a fast WR, we need another TE, and Qb is always in the equation (bigtime) so.........I think we end up drafting two OL, especially since we lost our second 6th rounder from Wilkenson.

This is wrong IMO. Every friggin year we have done this and end up with an average or crap line. Jimmy Johnson theory on OL. It sucks. It sucks really bad. You cannot expect two rookie OL, especially from smaller schools with less superior competition, to start and make a significant contirbution early. This OL would suck to begin with just like last year.

The Dolphins draft woes have consisted of the continual drafting of poor quality offensive linemen, although Vernon Carey appears to have finally gotten it now and will probably be a pretty solid player.

However that doesn't mean you can just give up getting linemen through the draft. For every Tony Mandarich and guy from Iowa in Oakland who's name escapes me, there's an Orlando Pace or a Jamaal Brown or Shaun Andrews. Who stuck it out their rookie seasons and became solid players, and thats what you have to hope for if you're a rebuilding team. Players developing to become solid down the road.

Realistically there is little the Dolphins can do to become a super bowl team THIS season.

well as hard headed as i have been about my homerish picks i can now see that maybe we should go with
rd 1 wr robert meacham
rd 2 c kalil
rd2 b te zach miller
rd 3 qb kolb
rd 4 a left tackle
rd 6 dt ryan mcbean
rd 7 middle linebacker.

Remember when Miami drafted Richmon Webb and Keith Sims? Shula solved a OL problem for at least 5 years. Is possible that this is what Cam and Muller will try to do in the draft.

If we dont trade down, and end up with our 4 picks on day one, I can realistically see us using not one of those on a defensive player. We may see some combination of 2 OL, QB and WR/TE. Im starting to believe we may look TE in round 2, with guys like Miller and Patrick potential targets there. That, or we could go QB or WR in R4, and address one defensive need in Round 2 or 3 (likely defensive back).
