Are we signing him? Did he go elsewhere? Imagine a Defense with Adams and Traylor in the middle, Arrington on outside, Thomas on inside...WOW.

Aside from that...whats the deal with Kevin Vickerson? Is he gonna be kept as a DT...or will he be moved to DE? We basically have 2 young/franchise? DTs, so does that mean we dont need to draft a DT? Or are we gonna move Vickerson to outside, and draft a DT?

Nothing lately...he hasn't signed with anyone else either...I think they are awaiting the LA thing before they jump on Maddox and possibly Adams...

so lets say we DO sign Lavar Arrington, then what happens with Sedrick Hodge? We gave him like, a 3 year 7 million contract?? that kinda contract is what u give to a STARTER. do we just release him if we sign Arrington??? we still have Spragan and a bunch of other young guys playing OLB.

i think having a big run stuffing DT like Sam Adams is more important than a guy like LaVar...cuz we already have Spragan and Hodge to play the other outside spot..and they arent that bad at all

i agree with ya

If lavar wants to Much $$$ id like to see Mr. Adams on this team

cause who am i kiddin with Crowder and Zach u really dont need much more from a LB though ill take Lavar anyday of the week the guy is top 10 OLB

but id rather see the money go to a solid CB and Sam Adams if Lavar wants his 6 million a year

Adams makes a lot more sense for us to pick up than Arrington. Adams position is a position of need for us.

Arrington is an upgrade, but Adams is essential. I haven't heard anything about Chester or Manny Wright being able to anchor the 3-4.

C'mon. Let this one go, please.

He's 33, a history of back trouble, takes downs off, and is going to ask for a disproportionate salary. Could we please start (continue) trying to get younger on defense, and stop with these 30+ year old D-linemen? We already have five.

Traylor and Adams probabaly wouldnt see the field much at the same time. They'd rotate at Nose Tackle. Both of them are players who shouldnt be asked to play every run-down snap in a game.

Both. At 6'4"-6'5" 290 pounds, that puts him in the size and skill range of guys like Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holliday. They play all different D-line positions. They will line up at LDE and Undertackle in the 4-3, DE in the 3-4, and DT and NT in the Nickel and Dime packages.

I wouldnt call Vickerson a franchise DT. He's a 7th rounder who hasnt played a snap of regular season NFL football. He's a scrub until further notice.

That's not an incredible contract for a player, especially depending on how it's structured. Hodge is probabaly going to be depth.

We can sign both? Just imagine

Arrington Zach Channing

JT Traylor Adams Carter

ONE WORD, SPECTACULAR.

Here's four more words: Two guys under 30.

MustangFinFan, don't think we would ever see a Traylor-Adams combo on our defensive line. Adam's is 33 and coming off a bad year. Plus already have some old DT's in 37 year old Traylor, 30 year old Holliday, and 35 year old Zgonina. Wouldn't get rid of the "youngster" Holliday coming off a good year, leaving Adams to replace Zgonina most likely. But having veterans Traylor, Adams, & Holliday to go with Wright would cost a roster spot to younger player like Vickerson. Don't see Saban going that direction unless he could sign Adams for a very low contract as insurance against injury (IMO, Zgonina would have been cut last year if Vickerson didn't get hurt). Good bet is Sam & agent will hold out until DT injuries in training camp increase his value to some team.

I'm guessing MustanFinFan, but Hodge's contract should be very incentive based with little bonus money because he's one failed drug test away from a one year's suspension. If Hodge's contract makes him impossible to cut, expect Spragan would be cut if he won't restructure after signing Arrington. Spragan's in the last year of his contract and would provide $1,050,000 in cap savings.
