Do we carry 3 QBs on the active roster? We can't put any of them on the practice squad, so do we keep Doughty as well? I'd rather we keep Doughty around if he shows progress, as we could use a young backup. Not sure how many years Moore has left.

They'll cross that bridge when they get there. Season hasn't started and Cutler can stink up the joint or blow up like a madman by then. That's when they'll have to decide. Tannehill will most prob go on IR, with Moore as back up and Fales/Doughty getting dumped.

He's not coming back this season. Only need 2 qb's on the roster. Doughty is goner, Fales is playing better.

He will be going on ir

I don't think Cutler would have been signed if there is any chance RT is coming back this season. Just wish he would have the damn surgery already so next year isn't lost as well.

Don't think it will be an issue, however if Cutler is playing that well Tannehill should have the surgery and that's a 10 to 12 month recovery. If Cutler were playing poorly and Tannehill returned ready to play you simply cut Cutler or Moore. Again I doubt it's an issue. Cutler does enough things ok that the other players on offense can work on improving their skill levels. A few interceptions here and there might impact win/loss total, but with Cutler this will be a good learning year for some of the players. To me the win total is icing on the cake.

It appears to be a fore gone conclusion that Ryan Tannehill isn't going to play in 2017....but I am not so sure about that.

I don't think #17 has ruled out playing this year.

This^

I wonder if the root of all this is Ryan being stubborn. I'm far from a doctor but isn't it surprising he hasn't had the surgery yet? Are we to the point of admitting that rehab didn't work in this case. It's been 8 or 9 months since the injury would rehabbing it for 2 years be enough? Seema like what was great news last December "partial tear" is the worst possible thing now.

What I'm wondering is if Ryan and his pre-med, orthopedic knowledge is the one stalling here or if it's all on the advice of the doctors.

In 2017 he goes to IR. In 2018 he re-structures and competes with either Cutler or Moore. Assuming Cutler has a decent year. Would Cutler consider a back-up role with the potential to start if Tannehill isn't ready and play for Gase? Is Gase and a potential playoff team enough to keep Cutler from leaving Miami?

Kind of surprised they're still looking for other ways to fix his acl aside from surgery. Get it done and be ready for 2018.

Can they put him on short term IR? This way there's a chance he could come back if Cutler/Moore suck ass?

Everybody keeps saying have the surgery and rehab didn't work, but nothing tore. As far as we know the knee is structurally in place, and something unexpected just kinda happened. Who is to say that 4-8 weeks more rest and training is all it needs? They are certainly in a tough grey area here.

If Tannehill doesn't go on IR I suspect Cutler will take the team as far as he can until they are certain Tannehill is ready to play.

The 75% talk on Cutler's bonus is interesting. Maybe the FO is guessing Tannehill might be back by then? Save them a milli or more.

Exactly. While first and fore most I want Tannehill to do what's best for his knee and his future because ultimately that's what best for our franchise. I see no reason why if healthy he can't play 6 or 7 more years given his overall excellent athletic ability.

That said, for all we know in 2-3 weeks he will be in the same boat he was a week ago before getting hurt in practice.

Jay Cutler being in Miami should have no bearing on what transpires with Tannehill. If #17 can play, he plays. Between Tannehill and Cutler, only one of them has future in Miami, regardless if the other has a present.

And for the record, I like Cutler and I think he's a good a band aid as could have possibly been had even though I think a certain black balled QB offered more competition at the position for the future.

A lot of fans feel the need to make declarations about the exact path we are on. What this set back means for a draft plans? What if Cutler plays well and he sticks around past 2017. Cut Tannehill and move on.

Come on, I get that we want answer's but sometimes you just have to be patient and let things play out.

5 or 6 years ago Carson Palmer was DONE. Until he wasn't. Same goes with Kurt Warner before that.

The best thing about football is that ultimately everything is decided on the field. Unless your Colin Kaepernick.
