With Ronnie Brown healthy, the team has shown the Wildcat can be very effective. People though still claimed it was a gimmick and the Dolphins only ran it b/c they had a bad offense with the worst WR core in the game.

Ronnie Brown gets hurt and RW is inserted as the starter. Suddenly the Dolphins run a regular offense w/o the Wildcat and still prove they can make plays without it. Also this gives Chad Henne a chance to stay on the field more and develop his game as a young QB.

So what do you think? I don't believe the team needs to ****can the Wildcat next year (especially since they only ran in what was it, like 10% of the time?) but perhaps we won't see it that much if only to throw a wrench at the defense every now and again.

If RB is in Miami and is 100%, we will see it again. It helps RB out because he has a step ahead of reading his holes and reading what the defense is doing out of it. I for one am gonna be excited next year if its back. With Henne having almost a full year of experience under the helm leading, having a powerful running attack mixed in with a little bit of chaos, and hopefully we have that #1 WR we are all wanting for christmas...we are gonna have a great explosive offense capable of spreading the field and keeping the Defense honest. I cant friggen wait! Go phins!

And Pat white would be better on special wildcat plays, like how Henne sometimes is out there as a wide out and they do a reverse flea flicker or something and just have Pat throw it deep to Cobbs down the middle(oh how I miss that play). But other than that I dont want to see Whitey in the game.

It thankfully went away now we will use it only when absolutely needed. Now we really see what we have with a normal offense. Wildcat will stay, but i would be surprise out of my mind if we use it more then 5 times in a single game given situation.

Wildcat is for Ronnie. When he's playing, we'll use it. And this is exactly why Ronnie may not be a Fin next year - I'm looking for him to get traded for picks in a very deep draft.

The wildcat still averages a ridiculously high yards per play, so I don't think it's going away. I think the reason we've seen it go by the wayside is because two of the main people who make it effective (Ronnie Brown and Patrick Cobbs) are gone with injury. Honestly i'd like to see it used and expanded, we run it better than any other team and 90% of the teams in the league still can't stop it. It's great to know that we don't need to rely on it for yardage, but regardless of if we need it or not, it's effective.

In my opinion I'd like to see us focus on eliminating some of it's weaknesses in the offseason by getting Ronnie more comfortable throwing the ball and finding ways to effectively use Pat White.

If the Dolphins can mix a power running NFL offense with a Wildcat/Spread package we make it nearly impossible to game plan against us. The next ingredient is getting wide receivers so that we can spread defenses out, which in my opinion will help Pat White be more effective by giving him more room to operate in 4 and 5 wide sets.

Now, I know many people feel that the Wildcat/Spread will retard the growth of Chad Henne as a pocket passer. I'd beg to differ and use the example of Nick Foles the quarterback of my alma mater the University of Arizona. Foles and Henne have a lot of similarities in that they are both pocket passers, both are very accurate and quick decision makers and both have the ability to throw the deep ball. Foles has thrived in the offense and beat out the running QB at Arizona for the starting job, however Matt Scott (the running QB) is at times used situationally.

Now I understand the differences between the pro and college game, which is the reason why guys like Colt Brennan and Graham Harrell haven't seen success on Sundays, but they also prove the point that a pocket passer CAN thrive in a spread offense.

Again I'll reiterate, I don't support fully implementing the spread offense, however...I fully support creating a spread package to take advantage of defenses who are game planning against our power running game. Which is why the Wildcat can be so effective, it incorporates both elements, the spread and the power run...once the pass from the formation becomes a legitimate threat.

It serves a strong purpose in Goalline and other short yardage situations, so it won't be going anywhere.

It will still be used imo. The Wildcat is still a great goalline formation, and should be used in only goalline situations.

Sparano himself has been quoted as saying that the dolphins have evolved past the wildcat. will we use it now and again next year probably, will we see it used to the extent of the last two years? not unless the coaches feel it will give them an edge in a game.

We shelve it in 2010 until everyone forgets about it and then break it out in the Super bowl for the game winning drive against Minnesota. Miami 31 - Minnesota 27.

How about that for a prediction!

i like the wildcat myself. it's been surprisingly effective and forces opponent's defenses to take time and plan for the possibility of it raping them. and it's been crucial in goal line situations.

i think ronnie will stay and we might as well see what the hell good white will bring. i say keep it.

Didn't we draft PWhite (still truggling with that one) and trade for Thigpen? These are 2 mobile QB's suited for a wildcat formation. I think RB coming back is up in the air depending on his salary demands. He has been injured quite a bit so he may price himself out of here. If RB stay the wildcat stays. If he goes I still think it has life because of White and Thigpen.

My big issue with it is bringing in White with 3 minutes left after driving into the red zone - for the first time in the game!!

Along w/ Ronnie, the key IMO to the 'cat is the unbalenced line.

I would not mind seeing it again w/ Thigpen or White in the position Pennington occupied in '08.

The inverted wishbone used from time to time has real potential IMO ... imagine it w/ Ronnie @ QB and Cobbs/Sheets/Sperry/Fasano as the upbacks.
