Is he going to be fired or what? It doesn't seem like he had much to do with our good draft, I think that was all Saban. We got players who Saban coached against or with (in the case of Travis Daniels). I don't think Speilman did much in the draft and all he does is make bad trades, so I think he gets fired

I cant think of any reason for them to keep him, Although I felt he got a raw deal being associated with wanny

It may seem that he didn't have much to do with the draft, but that is because Saban's MO is to have everything come thru him. Speilman and staff did a lot scouting and gathering info...Will he get fired ?? Probably...Saban, I assume, wants his own people in the organization... Speilman does a good job of scouting and evaluating talent...But the fact is that Saban is the coach/GM. The only thing that makes me think differently (about Speilman getting canned) is that Mr. H. does not like to fire folks...So, he may stay...???

I saw him at UPS applying for a job on Monday. Not sure if its for Driver or Warehouse. :cooldude:

he probably did both since you have to apply everywhere when looking for a job :cooldude:

Wayne is still paying him a 7 figure salary, don't think he has that many worries.

Nah the KFC would not hire him since he was willing to trade 10 3-piece breast and wing meals for just a medium fries to the McDonalds next door. So they were like no way dude. :cooldude:

I still think we should keep him. He has immense talent when it comes to player evaluation. He might not be ready to take full control of the GM spot yet, but if we let him go somewhere else that team will get a great talent in the front office.

Dont forget he was forced into getting Gordon and he did a great job in getting value for Ogunleye when we werent going to be able to pay him.

We over paid for Feeley, but that was a mistake and that is why he cant take the job of the full GM for a team yet. Also, dont forget that Feeley is still unproven and Ron Wolf said he would have traded for him.

I say we keep Spielman, he is will be a great mind in this league.

Dont mix his talent for COMPILING data on players rather than EVALUATING it. I think he's excellent at the former, it's the latter he has a huge problem with. And the latter it's whats been tied to his decision making which for the most part has been shoddy at best. Yeah he has found some gems in the draft, but nothing to take this team over the top. I say keep him as director of scouting *where he excels* and have someone else make the decisions.

I'll second that. I'd also like to point out that last years draft, the first with Spielman calling the shots, was pretty strong relative to previous drafts. Poole, Bua, Hadnot, and Pope where all solid picks who contributed last year.

I have never had a problem with Speilman, he has shown he is a good talent scout in the draft and free agency..

I completely agree. Give him the power to execute, and he gets lost. But with him reporting to someone else who'll make the decisions, he can't cause too much damage. He's definitely got an eye for players... he just doesn't seem to have a very good sense for value.

I don't have a problem with Spielman either. He's obviously good at evaluating talent. Just look at our draft last year. Every one of them dudes made the team.

Spielman's flaw is trading picks away. With Saban here that won't be happening. I'm thinking Spielman is not on the chopping block. If he was he'd already be gone.
