I don't feel like Linehan made the offense aggressive enough vs. the Jets last week, we didn't take any deep shots down field when we badly needed a big play to change the momentum in the game. Thoughts?

Jets were in a cover 2, which takes away the longball. What we should've done is throw more to McMike down the middle of the field.

I agree. Our offense was a far cry from the aggressiveness we showed against the Broncos. I don't understand why we didn't take more shots down field to try to get the big play and to try to loosen up the Jets defense a little to try to open up the running game. There wasn't ALOT down field. But we should have at least tried a few. We're going to HAVE to throw the ball well to beat the Panthers. True, we need to be balanced. But we'll have to pass to set up the run against the Panthers defensive front. THey are easily the toughest we've faced so far and probably the toughest we'll face all season.

I think our play calling was fairly agressive, it's our recievers that need to be more agressive. With Booker and Boston, two big physical guys, they need to be more physical and try to out-muscle the DB's more. They can win a lot of matche ups just based on their physical stature.

I don't know about you guys, but I didn't see aggression from anyone wearing a Phin uniform. Conversely, I saw a lot of hesitancy. I kept feeling through most of the game we were just going through the motions. I kept thinking, "would someone just lay the wood to a Jet defender!". I saw a lot of WRs stepping out of bounds, Ronnie dancing and lineman be pushed around.

When someone finally decides to step up and smack a defender in the mouth, this offense will start to gain that smashmouth mentality. Honestly, a few lineman with chips on their shoulders could compensate for poor technique. Or just to see Boston bowl over some DBs like he used to.... I'd even like to see Ronnie blast into a LB for no gain.... at least it would create some energy on the field.

Just once, wouldn't you like to see an opposing defender get up "looking out his earhole"? (Madden)

we are going to have to be more aggressive. defenses will start stacking the box against us like last year from here on out unless we prove to them we can hurt them deep

We have to establish a running game to get defenses to bring more men into the box. Also our line has to give the receivers time to run deep routes.

Untill the team proves it can run the ball effectively, I don't think teams will stack the box. The team did run for 151 vs Denver, but they've gotta move the chains more effectively running the ball. The Phins seemed to be in obvious passing downs on 3rd and long situations, limiting the playbook. Most teams aren't successful if they're stuck in 3rd and long situations. If the team can run the ball with Brown, that opens up the playaction pass and gives the team an opportunity to throw the deep ball because teams will stack the box, and the safeties will cheat up on a 2nd and 2/3 situation, or a 3rd and short.

Yeah I said that wrong. I believe our running game will improve with Ricky coming in two weeks from now. For some reason I said from here on out so its my bad. When ricky comes in, if he's as effective as I think he'll be, teams should stack the box against us and make us beat them throwing. At that point we'll have to be able to throw. Not to say Brown can't do it in the next two weeks, but I just think his learning curve is going to last a bit longer than that

YUP ...And that's why I can't wait for Ronnie to get Better :shakeno: ( im' trying to be positive ) O r Ricky to come back.

But I also think that the playcalling was a little " Magoo "! or Vanilla. They should have gotten Ronnie more involved in the passing game out of the backfield...screens ect. To me it just seems they have all these weapons and their not using them. They need to start mixing it up.. you know don't get crazy with it but more than they have... what have they done so far two reverses in different directions.? Whoopie .

Personally I think for Ronnie they need to get him a couple mis-direction plays. He looks like he is tenative before taking the ball into the hole, so give him a pitch out opposite of the way the play is being run.

Set up some screens for him to catch the ball and create. I really thought the Scott would come out and throw the ball deep I figured we would have a couple 50 yard passes by now.

Who knows maybe it was just the first time that team has played away together and maybe that was their one bad game. Hopefully we come out looking very strong against Carolina.

By the way we drove the ball down field on our 1st possesion of the game I thought we were going to score a lot of points, but I think that missed field goal and the inability to put the ball in the endzone hurt our momentum.

the Jets played great D and forced us to use shorter plays. Also our QB needs to stop under-throwing people. Even the one touchdown pass to Booker ?? in game one was underthrown. We were luck their D was not keeping up with us, could have been a pick. Is that the O line not giving Gus long enough???

well i think Linehan is saving lots of running plays for ricky, he does want to show defenses a lot until ricky returns... and i stil think that linehan should call more screen passes to ronnie ...that why we picked ronnie in the first place cause his versatility catching and running the ball...

Am predicting a win this sunday ... and ronnie will have a good game CATCHING THE BALL!!
