Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been thinking - what if Brown isn't there? Say he goes to Atlanta, and The "Big 7" are all gone. Realistic scenario. Who do we take tomorrow (actually today) given that scenario? I've always thought that "Brown will be there, otherwise a QB will drop", but i'm starting to feel it might be otherwise.

Im assuming Cleveland takes Quinn, and if Landry and Brown are gone by #9 I really hope Peterson is there. That would assure we could trade down because Buffalo or GB will want the pick. If he is gone too then we are screwed. I want Revis personally. We could still get him by trading down but, if all those guys are gone we are stuck with the pick. I wouldnt mind taking Revis that high but, Im not sure what the men in charge would do.

What might help is the possibility of Denver trying to jump to #10 for Patrick Willis (or so they say). That might give us some bargaining power for someone like S.F. or Buffalo (really dont want to deal with them but if the price is right).

its either brown or ginn,if neither of them are there then we trade down

Why does everyone sweat Ginn so much? He is blazing fast(Not with Ricky), but he cant run routes(and Ricky said he cant roll very well either). Ginn can be had quite a few picks later anyway. There are several better receivers to be had. A couple of them can be found in the 2nd, like his OSU receiving partner. NO wait..its UFC University of Florida Columbus.

i sweat him because of my confidence in my ability to evaluate football players.

That's what i'm thinking is going to happen - Cleveland goes with Quinn, Peterson goes to Minnesota, and we have no one there to take, something like this:

1 - OAK - Russell
2 - DET - Johnson
3 - CLE - Quinn
4 - TB - Adams
5 - ARI - Thomas
6 - WAS - Landry
7 - MIN - Peterson
8 - ATL - Brown

Then I would be clueless as to what we would do. It's easy to say trade down, but if the draft went like that, we wouldn't have anyone who wanted to trade up, and all our top targets are gone.

Should be interesting nonetheless.

^^ If that happened then I would go with either Staley or Ginn. I would rather Ginn because I think his value is simply higher in my mind and that we would be reaching for Staley but from all reports about Staley he is extremely athletic for a OL and I would love to get a bookend LT for 10 years.

It's amazing about Levi Brown. A month ago most people felt he was a "reach" and now we're panicking if he's not there. Guess what, there have been no "trade downs" in the past 2 years. So if it's THE DREADED "BPA" we would take Patrick Willis and go to a 4 linebacker defensive front. Of course this best player available concept's a joke also; everybody mentions how the biggest draft mistakes have always been the result of "reaching for needs" yet nobody gives many examples. Mueller always talks about drafting McAllister when he still had Ricky, but Ricky was not that productive with the Saints, Ditka gave up all his draft picks for Ricky, and Ricky was crazier as a Saint than a Dolphin. Mueller ended up with 2 "1's" but also consider his trading partner.
