Would Dan Marino + Barry Sanders have created the most unstoppable, devastating offense ever?

Barry Sanders went 3rd overall.

We had two first round picks (Sammie Smith at #9, and Louis Oliver at #25).

Some Barry Sanders Highlights..

interesting, but I don't think it would've worked out. our team wasn't built for the run at that time it was built for the pass. No, if anything we should've drafted more D.

It wouldn't have mattered if we weren't built for the run.

Barry Sanders was the one running back who could make something out of nothing. He could have zero blocking up front, and still average 5 yds/carry. No other running back could do that.

I mean, Barry Sanders spent his career on the crappy Detroit Lions. He still wrecked defenses, went to the pro bowl in each of the 10 seasons he played, went over 1000 yds every year (over 2000 yds in 1997), had a 5 yds/carry career average.

"It doesn't matter where the play is blocked; he'll find his own soft spot...The scheme doesn't matter with Sanders. He can run from any alignment. While other people are stuck with joints, he seems to have ball bearings in his legs that give him a mechanical advantage...Sanders' finest runs often occur when he takes the handoff and, with a couple of moves, turns the line of scrimmage into a broken field...Nobody has ever created such turmoil at the point of attack as Sanders has...Knock on wood, he seems indestructible..."

I would like to go back in time to 1981 NFL Draft and instead of us taking David Overstreet with the 13th overall pick :rolleyes2:, we could have taken Mike Singletary, Chicago Bears LB who went # 38, or Howie Long who went #48 to the Raiders.

Imagine what our defense would have been like with either of these guys. :boohoo:

Even if Miami had Barry, Dan probably still would've audibled out of a run play and turn it it into a pass play. I love Dan Marino, but that man did not like handing the ball off.

Its really sad to see how piss poor the Dolphins' drafts were from the late 80's to the middle of the this decade. (Aside from two years in the late 90's). No wonder our team was in shambles during this decade.

i honestly think it woulda been a pretty sick combination but we can all sit here and put fantasy dream teams together. there really is no telling who would blossom, if anyone.

Agree 100%, offense was never our problem, Defense was what held us back, thanks to not enough talent on D, and a D-Coordinator that should charged with murder, the way he killed our defense.

I would have rather traded up on Got Deion Sanders.
SHUT DOWN CB for the DEF

Not bad, but would have preferred to have traded up to get Jerry Rice in 1985. Marino to Rice, Clayton, and Duper. The NFL would have implemented the "Miami Mercy Rule" when a team is up by 50 or more points after the 3rd quarter the game is called.

We still would have lost games by scores like 52-49.
