I saw an article where a coaching friend of Nick Saban said he could tell that something was wrong when he hears Nick being so complimentary and uplifting about his team. He said that Nick usually goes the other way especially if he has a winner thats when he really gets critical of his team. So what if Nick knew all this time that becuase of the cap problems and other issues he inheirited that we were just not going to be any good. What if he and Wayne both talked about it before the season even started?

uhhh? then I guess he knew. What did you want him to tell us? The team sucks? What if Nick new we would figure that out on our own?

the problem is: how do you explain 9-7 with basically the same bunch of zany characters! all the changes made this year were strictly the sabanator. 1. didn't want to sign frerotte for more money (who could really blame him?)
2. linehan left and took the offense with him (not saban's fault he got a head coaching job)
3. ricky got popped again (not saban's fault)
4. signed culpepper instead of brees ( who really knows what brees wanted? 50-50 to blame)
5. drafted allen (right now, a bust!) could have went a lot of different ways. nick's fault
6. signed mularkey (we were warned what didn't someone warn nick; his fault)
7. let culpepper play when he wasn't ready. Nick's fault.
8. replaced his entire secondary. This is Nick's specialty - definitely Nick's fault.
9. other than ronnie, maybe crowder, nothing from the past 2 drafts - nick's fault.
10. nasty, contentious attitude with no sense of urgency to win. Nick's fault.
10.

If he knew why was there so much talk about winning this year? I think the big egos on this team started to believe their press clippings before the season started and didn't gel as a team. The real problem here is that these guys are not playing as a team. THAT is Nick's fault!

"What is Nick knew all the time. "

Can someone translate this... I have no EFFN clue what the hell this means...

I thought the same thing?:tantrum:

I cannot believe all of you are blaming Nick for your unrealistic expectations of him and this team.

Fact: Nick is an inexperienced NFL head coach.
This is his second year.

Fact: We assumed that adding Daunte would solve all problems, but we neglected to be realistic about the O-line.
Houck did a great job last year getting the O-line to vastly overachieve. I assumed they would get better. That was definitely unrealistic.

Fact: Linehan left for a better opportunity, and there were not great replacements out there.
Nick had to choose the best of the bunch. That does not mean he is good.

Fact: Our salary cap situation was poor for the last 2 years.
It will be better next year because Nick cleaned it up.

I do not think that Nick has been incredible coach and GM, but I do think he is doing a reasonable job.

I call it the same thing as they've been calling it since the beginning of football time......"It's a game of inches" Do you understand what that cliche means? If not, or for those who don't fully grasp the concept....it means that the difference between winning and losing is very small. It means that there isn't much seperating a winner from a loser. If you've watched all our games this year, you can almost always point to two or three plays a game, that are the difference between winning and losing the game. During our 6 game win streak last year, we made those plays, in our losses this year, we haven't made those plays, the other team has.....but, if you look closely, the difference is not 12 games (+6 as opposed to -6)....the difference is two or three plays per game.....which isn't as dramatic a freefall as some shortsighted pot stirring fans would have you believe.

1. didn't want to sign frerotte for more money (who could really blame him?)
exactly....who could blame saban for not keeping a mediocre QB who got his panties in a bunch when he found out he wasn't going to get a raise and be the unquestioned starter in 2006. not Saban's fault in the slightest.
2. linehan left and took the offense with him (not saban's fault he got a head coaching job)
exactly, not Saban's fault. You could say he should have known that Linehan wouldn't be around long and chose someone else but, it would be using that good old 20/20 vision as opposed to actual thinking.
3. ricky got popped again (not saban's fault)
, Exactly again! Not Saban's fault but, he made sure we wouldn't miss Ricky if he flaked again so, he gets credit for avoiding another Ricky-leaves-the-team-in-a-bind disaster.
4. signed culpepper instead of brees ( who really knows what brees wanted? 50-50 to blame)
And who really knows how Brees would play behind this o-line? When Culpepper is healthy, he is every bit, if not more QB than Brees is. You're only disappointed in this choice right now if you bought into the hype that Miami was going to do big things this year. If you're patient and understand now, how badly this team was messed up and that even a healthy DC wasn't going to save the season, you know that next year will be the time to debate which team got the better QB.
5. drafted allen (right now, a bust!) could have went a lot of different ways. nick's fault
It's stupid to call a rookie a bust....again, it all depends on your expectations of when he is supposed to make an impact. If you're the impatient foot stomping over-reactive type then you're probably whistling steam out your nostrils but, if you're a realistic fan who understands that sometimes players take time to adjust to the NFL, you're probably perfectly fine with Allen.
6. signed mularkey (we were warned what didn't someone warn nick; his fault)
This is what i think was the worst move he made but, get back to me when the o-line is playing well enough that Mularkey can call plays from the whole entire playbook.
7. let culpepper play when he wasn't ready. Nick's fault.
Yep, he listened to the doctors and daunte culpepper, who both said he could play.....was he supposed to go against both of them?
8. replaced his entire secondary. This is Nick's specialty - definitely Nick's fault.
Again, another case of wanting the results immediately....while not even considering injuries. (Daniels and Poole) and the fact that the secondary is almost on par with o-line, in that it takes a long time for players to truly work together as a unit.
9. other than ronnie, maybe crowder, nothing from the past 2 drafts - nick's fault.
Daniels, Hagan, Roth, and Allen will all be starters one day....Vickerson, Fred Evans and Joe Toledo all have shown some potential and will produce at least two more starters, and good depth...and Rod wright who was a projected second round player hasn't even started playing for us yet.
10. nasty, contentious attitude with no sense of urgency to win. Nick's fault.
Nasty contentious attitude with the press, not with his players....to which i say more power to him. F-the press.....they're disloyal dogs. They only exist for the selling of newspapers, they have no allegiance or ties to the Miami Dolphins and they should be treated like an enemy because that's what they are.

GREAT breakdown.

Well, we needed a miracle comeback to beat the Bills, a botched FG attempt to beat the Jets, and beat the Patriots with half of their starters out of the game after the first quarter. We also beat a terrible Raider team and a SD team that admitted they took us too lightly.

A few different circumstances and we could have been no better than 5-11 or 6-10. Now throw in offensive line and QB play that wasn't as good as last year, and what appears to be a downgrade at offensive coordinator.

You also have to realize that players don't play to the same level every year.
