Since some of us are using our imagination thinking of trades...why not a player trade?

Seems there's more possible teams looking for a receiver than top receivers in this draft...so what if Parcells hangs out Ginn to those teams....would you trade Ginn for a first round pick? I myself would...Ginn has talent but he isn't a receiver for the Dolphins...at least he hasn't shown that...yet. He could fit better for a team like the Eagles...or Tenn...or even perhaps Indy.

With two first rounders...the mind can go wild with thoughts...now couldn't!

Nobody would give up a first for Ginn, but if some crazy team did offer that, I GUARANTEE the Tuna would let him go. I would jump all over it.

I think folks in the league are well aware of Ginn's shortcomings, and probably also can guess he isn't Parcells' type of receiver. Nor has he in any way shown he can be a true #1 yet. So a team would have to really feel like he could be a special weapon for them to unload a #1 pick.

I think a 3rd rounder is more realistic for what teams would offer for Ginn if he was dangled, maybe a late 2nd if you're lucky.

But it's fun to think of the possibilities with two first rounders! I don't think anyone on our roster could fetch a first rounder in a trade except MAYBE for Ronnie.

I never question the stupity of the buyer. Some team perhaps would have already fell in love with him when he was in the draft....guy's like Al Davis love players who can run fast and be a game changer. When you look at the top receivers in this draft...and the questions they all have...Ginn could be a player teams feel he could fit and go after.

Totally man, I'm there with ya - I would love it if someone fell in love with him. Problem is, unlike when he was coming out of the draft, he's shown what he can do in the NFL - and there are some knocks on him.

There are lots of what-ifs with rooks too and I do agree that some teams might view him as a better option than Harvin or DHB...so looked at in that way, you never know. But I think much of the league just isn't very high on Teddy and doesn't view him as a #1 receiver. If I'm wrong I'll be thrilled.

1st round picks are extremely expensive, especially top tens.

Here is a realistic scenario to get a 1st round pick.

Dolphins send Phillip Merling,Paul Soliai, and Matt Roth to Denver for their 1st round pick.

Now, Merling alone is worth the 1st pick to Denver because a lot of mock drafts have Denver taking Tyson Jackson who is a nice sized 5-technique but has no pass rush. Merling came out early so is the same age as Jackson.
Merling played very good last year in his rookie season and is way better than Jackson will ever be.

But, we are talking a 1st round pick so we'd have to give up the other players as well.

The Dolphins could do the deal. Say the Dolphins sign JT, Roth is expendable.

There are some who say Merling isn't big enough for Parcell's and that Starks is going to start anyway. Now with the aquisition of McDaniel and having Rod Wright and Dotson for depth in the rotation Merling could be sacrificed.

Denver is switching to a 3-4 and they have no NT. They would love to have Soliai. Soliai has made some mistakes in Miami and wouldn't be missed.

Actually I think Denver needs to give us their 6th as well.

Now, if Denver keeps Cutler, they have a decent defense to go with their high powered offense. UH OH!

Because this draft is so heavy WR, I doubt a team would trade a high pick for Ginn, not that he does not warrant one, just because you may get the same production out of a WR in round 2-3. Other than maybe Long, Brown & possibly Henne, I think Tuna would trade any playe if offered a #1.

I think that would be a ridiculous trade for the Fins. A young productive player that should have been a #1 in Merling, a productive vet in Roth (still young) and a backup for Denver's pick. Why?
Team's value draft picks, but what player is going to replace 2 starters and 1 backup at Denver's pick? That would be a horrible move. IMHO.

I actually thing Ginn is going to have a great season this year and we will not want to be giving him up for anything come next offseason. I am going to say 78 catches 1280yds and 7 TD's along with 1 rushing TD.

Are your expectations based on analysis and projections or just a random hope?

As much as I like Ginn, it is ridiculously unrealistic to think someone would give us a 1st rounder for him. No one will do that. The best we could nope for would be a second.

This trade makes absolutely no sense. It's basically a trade just to trade.
