What if Rosen move was really about securing 2020 #1 pick all along?

Many of us assumed they traded for Rosen to see if maybe he could develop into a franchise QB this year. But what if they acquired him with the intent of including him as part of a package to any team with the #1 overall pick who might need a QB?

The way they’ve played this with the Tunsil trade makes me think they never really had any intention of seeing what Rosen had this year.

Perhaps it would make a QB needy team at #1 consider trading away Tua or Herbert a little more if they got a young QB back with the monster haul of picks they’d also get.

Why would a team who has the number 1 pick in the draft and have the choice to take any QB they want in a draft that most people seem to think is a fairly strong QB draft. Trade that pick for Josh Rosen who was the 4th guy picked in his own draft replaced after 1 year by one team and in your example given up on by another team after one season. The logic makes absolutely no sense

Rosen was all about adding a 5 star, top 10 pick talent to the QB room, the least talented one in the NFL at the time.

Miami never said they brought him here to be the Franchise QB.

They invested in a position that has been neglected in Miami for 2 decades and paid pennies on the dollar and softened the blow even more by adding a 2nd round pick in 2020.

They get to watch him work up close, see what he does well, see why he was highly regarded and they will put him in the spot they feel gives him the best chance for success.

No they traded for him to see if he had it.

It was a deal you couldn't pass up. He clearly didn't have it, and that's ok. It's worth every second to attempt.

The tunsil trade has really thrown me for a loop as well. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the ONLY reason they traded for Rosen was a PR move to try and give fans some hope. A fresh of breath air at QB to sell some tickets because they knew the tank would affect ticket sales and this was a move that could help inject some hope

Putting him behind an OL that was even WORSE than the one he played behind in arizona ensures that they never really get a fair look at what he can do. They set him up for failure. It makes no sense to trade for him “for a look” and then utterly decimate the offense around him to the point you can’t even judge his performance accurately.

Last time I checked he isn't starting. And he is on a 3 year, 6 million dollar contract. Not a 1 year contract.

Last time I checked he isn't starting.

He outplayed the supposed starter in preseason. The only reason I can think for why he isn’t starting is because they want to ease him in rather than allow his confidence to be shattered by tough defenses first few weeks.

Now with this Tunsil move, might as well keep him out the entire season if that was the thought process.

No, it’s just the simple fact that HOU gave us a Kings ransom and we simply could not refuse that level of value regardless of how good we think Tunsil is.

Those picks help us immensely as we enter the next two draft classes.

I think the Tunsil trade was too good to pass up. We may have lost our LT but we did get adequate compensation in return.

Maybe now we can make a trade for Trent Williams.

Why trade for qb if u dont want rosen. The number one thing that has kill dolphins is decision making. The last 10 yr...

Draft capital means little if the persons making the selections don't know what they're doing. Grier has been in a position of paramount importance in the front office since 2007 when he was named Director of College Scouting, the dreadfully inept drafting has involved him for many years.

Tunsil was a cheap, ascending player at a premium position with All-Pro potential. You gave that away for 2 firsts essentially, one of which will need to be used on his replacement, so you actually profited only one pick, probably in the lower half of the first round. And there is always the chance you can't get a guy as good as Tunsil considering how poorly many highly drafted OTs play. Greg Robinson, Luke Joekel, Cedric Ogbueghi, Ja'wuan James, Fluker, Humphries, Decker, etc. The Ronnie Stanley, Tyrone Smith, Taylor Lewan and Laremy Tunsil types are rare.

We brought in Rosen to see if he can be a franchise qb and now he's been set up to fail and now people are talking like we spent a 2d round pick on him just for the hell of it and we're just going to burn another high 1st next year on someone like Tua who doesn't have any more arm talent then Rosen. I'm sorry, this organization and Flores don't get the benefit of the doubt.

One in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush. Sad that so many people have still failed to grasp this simple concept.
