Wait, what? I don't think so...and before you start...here's why:
Moving down from 14 to 20 is...as has been stated, about a 3rd round value. Here's the thing: In this scenario the Eagles called us.
Evan Mathis, if sentiment around the league is accurate, may well be released ANYWAY. So the prevailing line of thought here is that we're essentially trading #14 and Dion Jordan for #20 and a corner that the Eagles aren't very fond of. It's just not enough. Also...keep in mind that Boykin AND Mathis are on the last year of their contracts.
Now...all that being said...I've thought a LOT about the Eagles trading with the Dolphins over the past couple weeks. Here's what I keep coming to:
#14
Jordan
Aikens
for
#20
Kendricks (also on the last year of his contract)
Boykin
Mathis
Think I'm crazy? Maybe...but this trade makes all the sense in the world to me. Kendricks and Boykin are pretty clearly talented players, but don't seem to be "Chip Kelly" guys...he prefers bigger players (seriously...the Eagles trade for Kiko Alonso should have sent radars pinging across the league about Kendricks). Miami's Mike and Guard situation immediately get better, and Boykin gets a shot at the #2 corner. Dion Jordan moves to the scheme he's designed for, the Eagles get a bigger boundary corner, they're six picks closer to Marcus Mariota, and they get more team-friendly contracts.
There are questions here, (can Kendricks play Mike? Can Boykin play outside? Can Billy Turner play RG?), but this trade makes me salivate every time I think about it.
