The Raiders really are a strong candidate to make this kind of move. Who knows how far they could have gone this year if Carr wasn't injured?
Their OL is excellent and their roster is full of talent already. They have the means and the need to seek this kind of acquisition. Their cap situation is rosy this year, and moving forward in the next few years. They could easily give him the fat contract he seeks.

What would you do? More importantly; what would T-Baum do?

The obvious con: No more Jarvis

Pro's:
A.) You still have young receivers in Caroo and Grant that fit the bill as slot receivers.
B.) You also have Y receiver Thomas Duarte who will probably be used in the slot this coming year any way.
C.) You also have Kenyon Drake who needs to see the field more often. RB? Ya, but he has the hands and explosiveness to excel in the slot.
D.) If you know you are going to shop Landry, you can freely negotiate with Stills, without all the drama and trauma of who is getting more money. Avoid the bidding war within your own ranks and put the bidding war on other teams pursuing Landry.
E.) Obviously the BIG ONE: A 1st round pick is HUGE!
F.) Or.....Is having roughly 60 million in cap room going forward to bolster the defense or the OL even BIGGER!

I'm thinking they would be more apt to just draft one, on a cheap deal..

So we can risk another first round pick hoping to get a Landry type player? NO

Sure, of course, the draft is always 100% reliable. You can always find an All Pro receiver whenever you want one. WTH was I thinking?

Unless...wth are you thinking?

This is a team that will have around 60 mil in cap room this offseason. A team with a loaded roster already. A team that some are predicting as the new elite power in the NFL going forward and the odds on favorite to win the 2018 Super Bowl.

They don't need a another half assed slot receiver like they had this year. They need a play maker, a game changer.

This is a team that is truly close. They will go hard hard after the top tier DT's and perhaps CB as well in free agency. If they can get a Calais Campbell and one of the top CB's and then add Landry as well.....their work is done and it's just up to the coaches to execute.

The draft is great by why give up a pro bowl player to possibly get a pro bowl player. Doesn't make sense unless your guaranteed an all pro impact player who never gets hurt. Good luck with that.

So we have a known commodity in Jarvis who is an excellent receiver and leader of the team. And you want to trade him for an unknown 1st round player who may/may not work out. WTH are you smoking?

I always love how offended you get whenever somebody disagrees. Settle down.

They're not giving a 1st for a slot receiver that they are also going to have to pay a hefty salary too. Their primary problem is on defense and, well, the health of their QB. Further, the Dolphins are not going to create yet another big hole by letting go of one of their star players on the HOPE that Carroo and Grant turn into something (certainly haven't shown anything yet, other than a tendency to fumble the ball in the latter case). Makes no sense for either team.

Honestly I think that the raiders would be idiots to make that trade. Their defense needs the most work...that's where they should be spending their picks.

OK, then keep Jarvis. Then don't be naive, Stills will be gone.

In the case of Jarvis, we have a litany of guys on our roster right now who would compete for those snaps in the slot.

In the case of Stills.......we have nobody. He is irreplaceable. Their isn't expected to be a player like him outside of the 1st round of this draft. There is no replacement for him among this year's free agent class. The top WR's in this class are pretty much possession receivers.

Landry is what? A 6 year 67 mil contract? At least 5 yr 50 mil?? You won't have that money. Poof gone

You won't have an extra 1st round pick.

What you will have is a first class mess if you try to sign them both, and even if you do manage it, just how how much cap is going to receivers in 2018-2019? What if Parker begins to ascend and Landry begins to diminish?? Then, you really screwed yourself.

Trading him would keep the peace. It would keep our legitimate deep threat WR here. It would keep us strong in cap room. It would keep Parker here into the future. It would keep our hopes for a stellar 2017 draft alive.

With all the options the Dolphins already have on the roster to fill the snaps at slot receiver, without even making another move, the Dolphins must prioritize their defense and OL.

Stills is entirely replacable. Just because we don't have a "speed guy" on the roster doesn't make him irreplaceable.

It's also false to think you don't have money for both him and Jarvis. You'd be paying Jarvis #1 receiver money, Stills #2 money and Parker #3-4 money on his rookie deal. Sign him to a deal that doesn't have a ton of money after the first 2 years. Jarvis is infinitely more valuable to this team than Stills and his outlier TD season.

Obviously with anyone if they regress you're going to have an issue. There's no signs of that happening with Landry tho so it's irrelevant.

I'd ask at-least a 2017 #1 #2 and 2018 #1, before I'd answer the phone.

You don't trade the heart, soul and face of your franchise that's still in his early 20's. That would be just plain stupid.
